I most likely won't be out till Friday eve.
Gun opens Saturday and I love sitting in a tree opening morning if it's calm and listened to the shot volleys.
I plan on hunting from the 5th_15th.
This tread is gonna make my bill $double again!

Im in. Going to head back a little early and put the dog on the blood trail from last night. The wife and I decided it probably wasn’t good to run her at night bc she’s scared easily anyway.

I also shot my bow in the driveway ten or so times just to make sure nothing had been messed up.

Swirling winds just got be busted on a toad. Had 2 bucks starring each other down at 50 yards and the big one knew something wasn’t right. Stood there for probably 15 minutes and turned and cautiously walked away. The other buck seen me grab my horns and took off. Soooooo close to a great buck.

30 minutes into daylight and nothing has come by yet.

I’m pretty bummed though because somewhere on the almost 1 mile bike ride in my GPS fell out of my pocket.

Hopefully I can find it later. On-X will work but it’s not nearly as good.

My 2018 elk hunt would confirm that. Bears seen before buying a tag; 14 in 3 days. Bears seen in last 6 days after buying bear tag; 2 and not anywhere close.

Just had a shooter at 20 yards…easy 120. he only needed to take a few more steps…then caught my scent being pulled down into the swamp. Turned and started to run. A grunt stopped him, a second one turned him around, and a snort wheeze brought him back to the same spot but he wouldn’t go any further. Bow in hand release attached I was ready!

Had a nice 8 hitting a scrape 50 yards away in the brush at about 8:30. Other than that just a spike pushing a doe around.
