Looks so different than where im at. Still holding alot of leaves around St. Louis area here in illinois. It was raining them down yesterday though and i imagine after this week it will look completely different. This was yesterday B500726D-8B84-4BDB-8268-C151AD8CE441.jpeg

Beautiful NOVEMBER morning today. 39 degrees wind is out of the west. I got in earlier than I normally do. After I climbed in I realized that I forgot my phone in the trk. I knew if i went back
I would bump deer so I sat and waited for good daylight. Close to 8 am before I left. At 733 I was leaning on the tree stand when I heard something to the north , I turned and looked and saw a deer at 25 yards , ok I'm thinking it probably the spike I've seen a lot. Nooooope. It's a big 8. I shifted my weight from the bar around the tree stand and it Creek, fudge he is on high alert. He is looking my way , turn my eyes away from his and Wait he moved so did I shifted again the stand Creek a little again he trotted off. Fudge.

I waited 15 min and went and retrieved my phone.

I'm sooooooo pissed at my self

    It's still November thou.

Starting to rethink this set up. I'm hunting in a big state forest. However this smaller chunk is just a few hundred acres. Generally in most places, the closer I get to private land the better. This place may be different. The most dangerous part of these woods may be near the private. Maybe that is why I'm seeing the majority of my buck sign right in the middle of this place. Been seeing long scrape lines a half mile in on this place for three years but have discounted them......might have to test my theory out soon.

I had that happen to me. First thing in the morning and it was still dark and I heard a noise behind me and turned around. I felt something touch my hand and looked back around and a Barred Owl was flying away.

Had a doe come running past, she was followed by a little four pt. Would have been absolutely perfect if it was a bigger one. AE03E3AA-25F8-46B3-B98D-135743F07BF3.jpeg

I'm back at house, need coffee and go get doe tags, ML licence, water.
I stopped at Rivers blind and what a mess! Looks like critters are sick of all the rain too. I literally fought off 6 different mice...everything's chewed up.....WTH!
That poor blind...first yellow jackets all summer now rodents....looks like I'll be cutting siding boards for it and adding more 1/4" fencing along bottom to stop the chewing.. in the mean time...they'll be getting a lot of "treats "
I normally avoid that due to birds and Fox...but they have 200 yards of brush pile fencing that the blind sits over. They should end up there to die. Or I'll be cleaning up more mess..
Some one killed deer this weekend because there were buzzards in the area and crows louder than normal
