This upcoming week looks amazing temp and wind wise for my deep spot. Monday will be the warmest.

Another part of the reason I’m sitting here instead of hunting is my wife is doing volunteer work for some 100 mile race in the Ozark Trail so I’m alone.

I whined a little when she said she had signed up to help Halloween weekend and she said “Be patient. Your trip to hunt during the rut is just two days later”.

Its been almost a month since my last kill and I’m sitting here thinking

Classic hill country setup... west wind coming off the swamp, thermals rising on the eastern side of the ridge....5 trails intersecting in the saddle. All the sign you could ask for, huge scrape in the middle of the saddle. No rubs, those are all down low on the bottom of the ridge, just like they should be...fools gold....those are all made at night. Can't wait to hear the crunch crunch of a buck cruising the ridge at 845....then....SMACK!!!!

2 fawns and 5 minutes later a small buck in same tree line. Probably should sit over there tonight or tomorrow.

Nothing today, heard some turkeys. Was hoping the neighbors would be out turkey hunting. ( First day of fall turkey here). Get the deer up an moving over to me. But big fat no can do. Still a lot of leaves hanging on to the trees thou making it tough to see much past 30-40 yards. A spot or two out to 60

Well I'm out of the stand. I have some work to do this afternoon so I doubt I'll be back in.
Gotta love when people set up on the main trail in/out and don't secure their ground blind. Never saw it as I entered. But saw it as I left. It's been there a few days no footprints in the sand. This is why remaining mobile on public land is so important. Whomever set up the ground blind messed up the whole spot I was hunting most of the season.[IMG]

As soon as I pull out my arrow with a judo point, a deer is bound to walk into sight... Right? 20211030_115234.jpeg
