Oh 100%, honestly I've done a ton of work to my 22 since 2016...and most cylinders are firing as we want now for the most part...so far less is needed time wise there. It is nice honestly somewhat...Pops and I have a V Bottom we want to hillbilly deck out with decking and such over the winter - think fishing may become a bigger thing in 2022. Much easier to get a kid into fishing anyways then hunting IMO. Shorter trips and such, can be loud much more and such.

I run a couple of these off of the molle loops on my saddle. If it wasn't for carrying sticks, I wouldn't need a back pack at all. All the calls, rangefinder, ropes, and other small gear can fit into these pouches or my pockets.

I decided to go old school with the arrow set up for this year, a four fletch of feathers instead of vanes. I am loving the look. The Born and Raised Outdoors mantra has become mine. They fly great out to 40 yards with field points. I will need to test broadheads soon. Broadheads and field points were hitting the same at 30 when I shot last week.

My oldest son is really close to pulling enough draw weight to legally hunt. We are going to the proshop Saturday. Going to test his draw weight on the scale and I may put a new rest on my bow. If he is pulling enough weight, I am going to build him some hunting arrows and make sure his bow is really well-tuned. Up until now, I have just been making sure his sight is hitting correctly.

What's your favorite/most memorable hunt from last year?

Mine was Halloween. 6" of snow. The first picture is taken from the center of the logging road I walk in on. 2 1/2 miles of snaking around and through the snow-covered branches while wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Took me 2 hours to get to my area. It was worth it though. gorgeous sunrise and landscape that will be hard to rival. The second picture is an odd set of tracks that I cut across on my way in.....

Had a doe under my stand, but didn't go through all that work for a doe. I let her walk. Around 930, I had a nice mature 120's buck come cruising across the ridge. He was moving too fast for me to get a shot with a limited shot window. Tried to snort wheezing him to come back, he did, but this time was moving faster and wouldn't stop with the usual "Meh". Awesome hunt. I had to hang up every ounce of gear with several fans on it all overnight and had to repack at 0200 for the next day's hunt.

My most memorable hunt from last year was me chasing a liver shot doe that was running through peoples front lawns. Good times!

My favorite hunt in Arkansas was October 24 in the morning. I had six deer in bow range over the course of four hours. The only doe showed up right at legal light. It was too dark under the trees to see my pin clearly on her when I drew even with her broadside at 12 yards. My wife gave me a sight light for Christmas to remedy that problem in the future. Over the next four hours I had 5 bucks cruise by, all at 30 yards or less. Unfortunately, the only buck that met antler requirements was not something I was interested in, the other 4 were not legal.

In Missouri, @LittleChief put me on an 8 point that I would guess to be at least a 130" and easily the biggest bodied deer I have seen in the south. He cruised by me at 50 yards, too far for me to feel comfortable shooting. I grunted him back in to about 35 yards, but he was standing in small pines and only his head was visible, he never stepped out to present a shot before wandering off. At 35, I would have taken the shot if I had had one.

I had a season of close calls with the bow last year.

I will be hunting my own property again, will be trying new spots within. I did build a box blind this year over one of my clover plots that has only one huntable tree to get a stand in. With the blind I am able to hunt a verity of different wind direction’s. This year will have challenges since we are in a drought like a lot of other people, also I have at least 10 different bears (adults & Cubs)in the area so that has an effect on deer movement. I really should start hunting them but I never have had the interest. Good luck everyone

Do you mean you can hunt the blind with a variety of winds more so than a stand or that the blind + the stand gives you more options?

My son shooting his first deer. He passed up a few smaller deer (fawns) to shoot something with antlers, and made a perfect shot when it counted. Absolutely one of the coolest experiences as a father.

Yes, I can hunt the blind with a variety of different wind directions. All winds will work except a E/NE wind.
