Probably gonna miss us, but you gotta love missouri weather. Warm and windy. Guess I'll just sit right here and drink.

Great nieghbor next to hay field and borders me is mowing his trails tonight. He owns the pines the deer hide in. Didn't Spook anything my way but perhaps to the sanctuary property that also borders him.OK...this may work for me...they could come off sanctuary on to me not pines to get to hay now. Let's hope that was his only pass through tonight.

Setup a little late. Wind is terrible for this spot. High probability I’m busted tonight. Good luck to the rest of PM shift

Glad you're back on stand and feeling healthy Tony.

BUNCH of rain here is SW Michigan. No hunting tonight or tomorrow. Sure hope someone shoots something.

Looks like a possible new MI record shot. Apparently 202". IMG_4027.jpg

In a tree battling high winds. Considering changing this into a still hunt. Lots of bedding directly upwind of me. I think I could get really close before they know I’m closing in on them. That is, of course, there are any deer in that bedding.

Found one little spot all tore up with scrapes and not much anywhere else. Looks like I'm going to try and get in there tomorrow evening.

So...zip,zilch, nada. I glassed hay field, nothing. Started raining pretty good by 5:55 so I packed up at Sun set. 6:15. Got home and decided to shoot an arrow. Because we have that 30. Min past sunset rule now. I could barely see my target at 15 yrds...Dang if I didn't hit money. ..still a struggle to draw though.
I checked the clover field and it had two fawns in it. That was all.
Looks like they are playing somewhere else right now....hhhmmmmmm

Just got in. Ten minutes before shooting light was over, I had 4 deer come running in. One was a buck that was mounting a doe. Two dark to see how big it was. Pretty exciting

As we enter the “heart” of deer season I wanted to share this quote from Fred Bear with you all. Always remember this every time you are in the woods.

"Go afield with a good attitude, with respect for the wildlife you hunt and for the forest and fields in which you walk. Immerse yourself in the outdoor experience. It will cleanse your soul and make you a better person."

    I "like" that quote!
Holt, and everyone else, never think killing a deer is just sitting in a tree. If you have the time, places to venture into a new technique, do it! See a buck bedded in a spot, look at the terrain, check the wind AND GO FOR IT!
I know very good hunters and I know a (FEW GREAT HUNTERS" and the ones I consider great are the ones that change things up. There are other ways to kill deer then just sit in a tree.
    Good luck.

actually not sure if they're doing one this year, last time you had to have it weighed using a sponsor-brand digital scale. And they aren't cheap.

    EDIT-

    uh, yeah what he said:

I'm LFThouse. All I saw tonight was a coyote on a quick trot and a black housecat...about 2 miles from any house.

This was a fun drive, let me tell you

Original plan was to hunt tomorrow, but yeah no.
I'll be back at it Friday PM shift.

It's 60゚ and I've only ever seen one deer on this property in 4 years. But today is the day! Ha. At least I have some good coffee.
