Me too. I don’t like that it didn’t penetrate much but he acted hurt and I didn’t see him exit below me. I hate this feeling I have right now.

20211022_162530.jpg Settled back in a brush blind near my very first cardboard blind, 12 yrs and going strong despite squirrels. ..lol. You can see it in the pic. Mainly gun blind. Winds are great and sun is out still pretty cool out but sun is great.. going to get pretty cold fast. Shoulder blades and back sore from sitting practice..Ps enlarge and you can see the turkey before they got to me.

There's always the possibility that you hit the off side shoulder and it just bounced back a bit. Give him lots of time.

    Wow!! Fingers crossed!!

What was his reaction when hit? (besides running off)

how was he standing and where did the arrow go in? above shoulder? behind shoulder? In front of shoulder?

Hopefully your eyes deceived a bit and you got more penetration or a bounce back. Good luck on recovery and when in doubt back out. How close was he if not alresdy answered?

I’ve had this very thing happen twice. First time I saw him go down, second I didn’t, but he wasn’t far. The bounce happens so fast you can’t tell what happened. It looks like poor penetration but I think it actually does more damage than just a pass through.

Middle of body as far as height but not too far front. He ran about 30 yards crashing into **** then settled dow and I saw him walking around in circles for a few minutes. Then I lost sight of him for a few minutes. He reappeared walking slowly flickering his tail. I watched through binos then he disappeared. I think he bedded. I would have seen him if he would have kept going unless he ran to creek but I didn’t hear anything cross. I’m praying he’s bedded below me about 100 yards where I can’t see lighted nock

I typed the above 20 mins ago...delayed because.....sorry couldn't hold from shaking and at one point I had them 2 yards away...no shooting 10 hens..which makes this turkey hunter happy. Something big snapped behind me spooking them off. Also they had a red tail harass them as they moved across property to me. So Fun!!!

Hopefully its the off side shoulder you hit. Good luck buddy! Take the time to relax and go over the shot in your mind. Good luck on the track!

Any noticeable blood on his side at entry point? Walking in circles, like a dog chasing his tail circles? The crashing into chit could have been a pinned joint or something. Was his entry side to the inside of the circle? Never seen one do that myself. Can you see blood through binos?

It may have hit the off shoulder and bounced back. If it was still in him it’s chewing him up.

Hey there folks. So, I've spent the last three very slow work days reading from page one of the LFTS thread. Never spent much time here in the past, but you've all got me hooked so I decided to join the fun. Hitting the woods for the first time tomorrow morning, just got our first frost advisory here in Northwest Illinois. Congrats to all who have downed a majestic whitetail so far this season and good luck with your recovery Happy.

As if I wasn't excited enough for tonight. Be patient. Make good choices. I'd wait a good long time before going after him. When does it get dark there? I'm a horrible waiter. I often sneak out and do something to pass the time.

Almost had a shot at a doe walking in...but they got nervous and went away.

It would make me happy if Happy recovers his bruiser buck!

Walking in circles, flickering tail. He is mortally wounded. We just can't tell you how long he will live or how far he is going to go.
