My new 125gr points arrived for my new arrows. First group from 40yds...pulled the last shot.

A bit of nock tuning and it's time for the blades. IMG_20210812_201556_146.jpeg

New to forum, figured I'd start here and make a note on a "packing in gear mod," as my first post offering to the cult.
First year bow hunting coming up, with a recurve. Yes lots of practice shooting this summer, I also fly fish. Apparently I like the hard way to do things. I don't promote it, but it's what blows my skirt up.
1st year saddle hunting as well. Was working on pack in method with sticks and platform last week and came up with... 8ft climbing webbing loop as my "straps," for my sticks and platform. Webbing loop will play double duty as I will use it as my first and only aider step as well. See pics.
Last year I had a bad hernia so couldn't pull a bow and was using a climber lonewolf (rifle hunting) so I did the classic backpackstraps to climber but had to come up with a new method to haul these new sticks and platform for saddle setup. I think I dig it. It's quiet and I don't have to take off a backpack at the tree to start my climb. Also notice in pic it all is low on my back so I won't catch branches ducking under logs and branches hiking in.
*Public land hunts, boat access with my Towee skiff whenever possible. I don't have the connections or coins for private land and truly do love the challenge of dissecting land at home on a map then putting boots on the ground and finding the deers.
Thanks all, that's it for now.

Welcome to the forum, fellow early riser. I like the looks of that tree climbing set-up. This will also be my first year hunting with a tree saddle. Good luck too you and enjoy your time here. Awesome bunch of people on here

Urban qualified this morning, that brings brings my tag total to 9; six on the regular license and three to start the urban hunt. I doubt I will have enough time to hunt to fill them all. Did a little scouting in a creek bottom after the orientation, found several good old rubs, a big community scrape that had some fresh tracks, and a skeleton from someone’ success in the past. Not a great early season spot, buts looks to be good come late October-mid November

I didn’t have time to scout a 20 acre wood lot between a subdivision and a golf course. It has a nice draw and a creek from looking at maps, I plan on going in there at some point in the season. Urban season opens Sept 1st, hoping I get in there Labor Day weekend and get a crack at a velvet buck.

Y'all, I'm ready for some tree stand therapy. I find myself extremely bored and also tired of all the silliness of this world. The politics, the in fighting and all the other little annoyances like jobs and bills are getting on my nerves. That first October cold front sunrise with the wind in my face, bow on the hanger...hot damn that fires me up. I can't wait.

Headed to O-H-I-O today to do some camera work and some scouting. I'm starting to get some frequent pics of a couple of big boys. Let's get this party started!
