I’m all set up! Took a little longer getting out than I would have liked but still have a bit before first light with the heavy cloud cover. Good luck everyone!!

Worst entrance ever. Only thing I can hope for is a deaf and dumb deer to walk by this am.

Amen to that! Motor cross, dogs, big rigs breaking coming into the valley, even crows!!
Down at camp is better until...the train horns blasting miles away and crows!

Good luck and stay safe as well!
So far I'm the only hunter out here that I know of. I don't necessarily think there is going to be much foot traffic of hunters out here this year. Last year I saw a ton during archery, and black powder. But this year the hunters haven't been to numerous. But nonetheless I always have orange on due to the wma laws requiring at least a orange hat be worn while big game hunting. Currently covered head to waist in solid orange.

It is the youth firearms season starting today through Sunday. A ton of added pressure in the woods right as the pre-rut is starting. Should make things interesting for those still hunting bucks.

I wonder if the stunt man broke his back filming that scene. That is an 800lb grizz riding him.

Putting this here because I've mentioned a bit of difficulty. So I had new strings put on last year. I made sure I told them my poundage and asked again when I picked it up. I've been shooting and hunted last year. I had mentioned last year a couple of times I could not draw back AT ALL sitting in the blind.
Now I had noticed drawing was harder but I have contributed it to my old string being stretched and new string being taut. As I shoot it has gotten easier but it is still a real pull. I then thought ,well you've lost a bunch of weight maybe that's effecting it. I have no problem holding my draw. I have always practiced the hold because deer don't always cooperate. This all said
My son came over and my bow was out. To my my absolute horror I turn to see him finger drawing my bow. DO NOT EVER DRAW MY BOW! Especially without a arrow at a target and torque fingers... any how he said. Geez Mom what are you shooting 55+#'s??? Now he is 6'4" and very strong, construction work.
No 49#'s. He told me his bow is set at 52#'s, he inherited it and never changed draw weight. He said My bow which is also a mission is drawing significantly hard to him than his bow.
Now I have to find a different bow shop that's qualified to check draw weight and adjust . Though doing that worries me to changing my shots. I shoot instinctive. I'm not sure I want to do this mid season, my groups are dang good

Thought I was gonna get a crack at one of those does… actually picked my bow up ready to kill for the first time this week. I’m realizing that my time is dwindling down quick… I have today tomorrow and Saturday morning to get it done. Going to do a little scouting mid day then if I don’t find some good buck sign I’m going after my back up buck tonight. This is too good of an opportunity to go home empty handed

Nothing here yet except a coyote or wolf while it was still dark. I actually saw my low glow cameras going off so I can confirm later today.
