I have a feeling Nick is busy gutting and dragging it out. It's a lot warmer in SC.

I have been monitoring the thread for a while, living vicariously through you all. On 10/31 I leave for Kansas, have almost 2 full weeks to hunt. We (me and a couple friends)just bought 200 acres out there. My friend actually just bought a house 5 miles from the land and a new side by side to leave there as well. We hung stands in September when we were there for the closing on the land. I will be an active participant in 11 days. Good luck to you all

I have not hunted here yet, just can’t get excited for New England hunting.

The struggle is real. The deer numbers are so low unless you have access to unpressured private land near a food source.

Unfortunately no good news on my end. It was clearly a bad shot. I tracked the buck through the impossible. Only to lose blood. Did everything I could to find him, searched through Tilly Swamp going up to my knees. Ultimately this buck will live another day. Three quarters of the track was all on my hands and knees as well it's near impossible for a human to get through it.[IMG]

Bummer, any idea of impact location? Did you find the arrow? Any pics of the blood?

Did find the arrow. It wasn't covered like I thought when I shot. I believe I hit high and clipped both lungs. Had a tree right there that covered him and I believe I hit the branch. Blood went from dark red to a bright red. When I had to call off the track he was going through the Swamp. And I would've kept going had there been a way for me to get through.

Damn, sorry to hear Nick, That's a deflating feeling. We've all been there before, myself included. It is never easy to process and come to grips with. Best thing to do, is to get back out there, and hunt.

Yeah it sucks. But I have a second set of camo that I can wear tonight. Going to wash the pair I was in this morning. Going to head back to the same stand tonight and give it another go. Maybe he'll come back out and give me another shot.

Sorry to hear that Nick. We all thought for sure you had one. You're doing the right thing by getting back out there.

Just got in 15 minutes ago bumped a deer that was 30 yards from my stand. It didn’t run just walked away. Ten minutes ago I saw two deer behind me 60 yards, heading left to right.

I thought so too when I shot. I literally went through hell to find him. Unfortunately though he was one tough son of a gun.
I'll be headed back out around 3ish. I have to pick up some sweet hickory smoked carolina reaper jerky that a friend made for me around 2.

Just out of curiosity, any idea how far you tracked him? The knee deep swamp does not sound fun at all!!
