Decided to sit this one out today. It's in the mid 30's, but burnout can and does set in real quick when you go for long stretches without seeing anything, speaking from experience. I have a few papers to write for school as well, so I might as well get them done. I'm looking forward to following along today as always!

    Good luck on stand today!

Im having a hard time finding time to hunt this week. Just about every day I have stuff going on. Hopefully by end of week I can squeeze in a hunt.

    It's go time. About.

    37 degrees yes, hell yes.

Had a doe blow but wind isn't going to her. If she would walk north about 120 yards she would run into my scent. Not sure why blowing.

If she comes by she dead

Just got settled in using the climber today. All the alarms in the house woke me up so I decided to come out. Wind is not good for this set if the deer come where they normally do and I had to snap off a bunch of branches on my way up but it should be good for next time I'm leaving my stand here. Deer usually browse up this logging road. If I picked a tree in the other side wind would have been good. 1634644317788.jpeg

I've had to remind myself a few times this morning that it's sand and not snow! Pretty cold here for this time of year. 47 here this morning. [IMG]

Exciting morning so far, had 2 does come right under me at first light, while they were there a raccoon bumped an unidentified deer to my left, then I had a mom and fawn in the gasline and two other does make their way across it… day 3 of being in a target rich environment and my trigger finger is getting awfully itchy lol

I wonder if it is too early in the season to try some light rattling or a few light grunts?

I don't think it's too early. I'm getting trail cam pics of bucks sparring.

Not at all. I saw 2 bucks sparring last week. Went at it for about 10 min. It wasnt full blown kill mode but they were trying to figure out what to do with that building testosterone

I should probably say as a disclaimer, I'm not familiar with PA bucks, and if rattling or grunting is effective. I know where I hunt, if you grunt, the bucks run away faster. When I rut hunted in Illinois 2013-15, I was amazed at how it actually worked and drew the bucks in.

I have no idea on these bucks, this is a whole new world for me in PA… 300 acres to myself that people are only allowed in 3 weeks of the year lol

    I'd give it a shot!!!

Also, as a fellow team member, I encourage you to shoot a doe, LOL! It's cold out so let it fly, let her die, and let her lie......
