I’m late but I somehow got in undetected. I wanted to get aggressive but the wind is howling in the absolute worse possible direction. Let’s see if we can make it gappen

Another small doe and button buck showed up and fed on briar tips. Need something a little better.

Two doe and fawn hammering the brassicas early tonight. Wind still pretty strong out of WNW here in WI but have seen 5 deer already.

2 hours left of bear season.
Got a good wind so I'm planting my butt on a well used river crossing. 16345100155775520286118567241354.jpg

Small fork and a doe and 2 fawn. Up to 9 seen and just getting to prime time. Fork is doing some light chasing and the ladies weren’t having it. Wind dying nicely.

Settled in. That coyote came right to me and I had to lean around a tree. Was a female. Bit I'm here to find deer. On the ground hunting always gets me fired up and this is one of my favorite spots. Between heavy trails Between bedding and food. So quiet down here. Good luck and it feels like a killing evening 20211017_175727.jpeg 20211017_175721.jpeg

That was a crazy hunt. Had a doe zip by in a hurry, so I got ready hoping something was chasing her. Nothing. Few minutes later a turkey comes in from same direction and is trying to roost. I heard a bunch of noise before the doe ran through and wonder if the turkey didn't startle her. Idk, but that was fun. Just waiting till a little more dark to leave. I'll catch up on the thread when I get home.

Fml….. guys what turned out to be an awesome morning turned around to punch me right in the gut. We never found the second doe. And….. i need to break it to my teammates….. in all the confusion i sent my buddies to another friends place who has a walk-in cooler to save the first doe because it was warming up QUICK and she was starting to bloat and attract those nasty green flies. We searched and searched for the second doe and by the time i called up the friend with the cooler he said “Dont worry, we got her all skinned out and hanging” No pics with bow!!! Sorry team 4. Im that guy. Back to the second doe… Me and the guys who were helping me track have tracked deer to the end of the moon but this one had us scratching our heads. I will post a couple pics i have but quick run down. I didnt hit back i actually hit her just right. Edit: not “just right” just not as ba k as i thought before. She was slightly quartered AWAY. I thought she was a little more broadside so i actually hit her pretty good. In the mayhem after the shot i couldnt reach my quiver to knock another arrow. It slipped and was hanging from a strap just out of reach so at least i had enough brains to pull out my phone and video her. The shot was slightly quartered away 25 yds. After impact she spun and did a big oval. She circled back around because she had a yearling with her or at least im guessing thats why. So as she stood at now what is 35-40ish yds from me quartered to me, she was hunched like a gut shot. Well i did probably for sure hit some guts but….. well ill let you guys give opinions. First pic will be entry which is center mass but second pic is exit. It was a clean pass through and ill post arrow pic as well. Exit wound was just behind off shoulder. Where she did the corcle and where she stood there were a few big plate size pools of bright red blood. The arrow had thin red blood with no odor of guts. She slowly walked into the thick cover and there was not 1 drop of blood after where she was standing We just got back home again. Put 7-8 hrs into it minus when i briefly left to drive a hay ride which only took hr and a half and my buddies stayed out there looking. Called a guy with a dog who said hed be out and never showed. At this point we would need to get a third landowners permission to look there. We saw buzzards but they were doing wide circles. I know the meat is toast now but man that bugs me up bad. No. Blood. On our hands and knees for a long time. Im exhausted. Anyway what do you guys think? High gut liver? The exit had me thinking maybe one lung too there was a few air bubbles and bright blood on the ground. Wish i would have taken pic. 3EDE47DA-4E9B-4C15-8DAA-6E3E38E6989A.jpeg
