Multiple deer way off in the field feeding, one looks to be a nice buck. Let’s see if they come this way

I barely caught movement out of the corner of my eye, there’s bedding close by to me. Hoping they work this way.

I had an interesting one as well. Actually its time for a looong talk in the mirror. Yesterday i was running late. Got to a tree and unpacked my sticks and whatnot. Went to clip my bowrope onto my bow and guess what i left back at the truck…….. Now ive heard of forgetting harness or binos ( like i did this morning), and ive even heard of forgetting the release and ive been guilty of those too. But to walk all the way out to the woods and not realize that you dont have your bow in your hand is a bit perplexing. Today my shots stay at <30. Lets Go Brandon!!!!

I didn’t expect this, but, after the memorial for my FIL yesterday, my wife insisted I go hunting this morning. Sort of my own personal tribute to him since hunting was one of the few things we had in common.

As I was typing this, I guy walked in on me 20 minutes before light. He had a ground blind set up 50 yards away that I didn’t see. Unfortunately, I had to move. The law is you cannot set up with 200 yards of someone elses ground blind on public land. So I got down and moved about 250 yards. Since it was light I found a thick patch of undergrowth with a couple of white oaks dropping within 30 yards. That guy was right legally, not the best representative of hunters.

He had his wife with him. The wife was trying to get him to go to another spot since I was there first. Dude should have listened to his wife. After I got outof the tree, I just casually mentioned that I had to bury my FIL yesterday and today was about more than killing a deer for me. Public land, respect the person in the spot first. I can only imagine what guys wife is saying to him now.

I'm down in my blind in the bottom. No movement so far. Nice crisp morning.

This is also my first morning hunt in this spot. I scouted it and did a couple of afternoon hunts in January but first time hunting it this time of year.

I just made a move. Didn't feel confident in my setup. Moved about 100 yards up the ridge. Just as I finished setting up and went to sit down, deer blew 1 time about 50 yards away. Must have watched me climb the tree. 8:30 - 9:30 is prime time for this spot. Just made it.
