I haven't seen any for about that same period of time. I was suprised they didn't have a Kentucky hunt this year. Maybe they will later

I'm up for the evening. Scouted my way in. Wanted to hunt a new buck bed I found in the winter. Just too thick and no trees to get right on top of it. Set up About 60 yards away. Got a persimmons tree full of fruit half way between me and the bed, so that's a plus. Couple ok trails around me and can see a bed about 30 yards away in the tall grass. Looking for buck or doe tonight

I had same thing last year Oct 1 opening day...decent really wide 8pt 2.5 yo chasing does all over a hillside. I stopped him and shot right under his heart at 22 yards.

Well boys and girls, I've gone completely rogue for this afternoons hunt. Im on the ground in a public WMA. Its a 30acre piece that I drive by all the time and have never seen anyone hunt. Extremely thick bedding to my north, farmers hay field to my south, big river to my west. The deer come from my north or across the street and head to the river or the hay field. I got in here to scout and set up. Didnt take 10min. Found an awesome scrape line and multiple rubs that I'm set up on. Buck or Doe or both tonight. Kill!!!! 20211003_154119.jpg 20211003_154123.jpg 20211003_154128.jpg 20211003_154314.jpg

So while I sit with out much to do, probably got 2 hours before I see anything. Here is the back history of the property I'm on. Public land

Been scouting this place for around 7 years. Started hunting it 3 years. I believe I'm cursed on it. Don't hunt it alot, but usually see plenty of deer most sits. I have never killed a deer on this property. I think I have missed or wounded 5 deer now over 3 years. This year on opening morning I made mention of it on here about being cursed. Then 30 minutes later I shot a huge doe right thru her back straps and never found her. This is also the place I shot that large mature 8 pt last year on October 30 at 2:30pm. Hit him right across the spine and stuck in the back of his off side shoulder. Jumped him a few hours later and never seen again. Looked alot this winter for him also, gone! Also had a complete missed a nice buck with longbow and a couple more does.

So I sit here ready to get this curse off my back. Going to practice my patience tonight and just let the deer come in naturally and wait for that perfect shot.

Leaving my house in soon should be in my stand by 440. A ladder stand in a pine looking at an apple tree….. hope there’s apples on it. I’ll post when I’m there, it just stopped raining here but I’m still going to wear my rain gear. Weather man said it’s not supposed to rain until 10 tonight. Will see. Good luck everyone who’s out.

You need to ask cernunnus “ the antlered god of the wilderness” to break his curse on this spot “
Do a little chant and dance!! Maybe burn an antler of something.

Blue Jays are going nuts about 40 yards to my right. It's so thick I can't see 5 feet into it. I keep hearing something walking for the last 30 minutes. Think it's a deer. I got a trail 10 yards in front of me leading directly out of there. Hope it comes this way.

Set up and and the 3 trees have apples. I'm about 8 ft off the ground with good back cover. Gotta be ready if there coming there going to be on me quick. I'm right against the railroad tracks and train just came through so any noise I made was covered up. Oh ya and it's raining. IMG_20211003_165023.jpeg IMG_20211003_165039.jpeg

I’m set up on public land in Arkansas.

No idea at all what to expect here. I have a very weak signal. It took two minutes just to get the forum to load.
