Back at the house. I did some lite rattling and the grunt tube. With no luck this morning. Going to a field edge for tonight sit. Corn field. Gonna take a nap. It's just myself hunting this afternoon. Wife took MUD Jr to get a new phone. (I13).

Contemplating an afternoon/evening hunt. Still hurting a bit from the concert last night, sleep-wise and hangover-wise.

Its called “PictureThis”. I only have the free version. Not sure how accurate it is but gives you an idea of what it might be

H hmmm we have a lot of iron wood and twigs are reddish. Also main trunk is shaggy. So pig nut on main trunk will be mainly smooth with shallow runs up.it. shag bark hickory self explanatory. Also you can tell a lot crunching a leaf and smelling or gouging branch and sniffing. I'd consider...a type of ash depending on main trunk bark.

Brother I'm dying from walking and fishing all day yesterday in the river. If you go hunting I'll go but as of now I'm laying on the couch

I was doing the same! Just went out and rearranged the gear. It’s a nice 70 degrees out. An afternoon nap sounds amazing, but so doesn’t spending the afternoon in the woods….hmmm

I suspect it's a hickory (not ironwood...the trunk was relatively uniform, and hickory are much more common in the piedmont of NC). Shagbark, the most common, but appears to be a young tree...

Saw squirrels. No fresh sign and no deer. Good rains in the forecast so I'll hit public next week...

I'm done and presently locked out of my house... My daughter is home from college, took that vehicle... No garage opener, no house key. They must be out shopping.
