    Nope. Not this evening.

Anything I kill will delay dinner by at least an hour.

If a doe steps out here it will be in peril, but I'm not sure about this spot. If this nearby oak was dropping the load of acorns on it, maybe better. At random times bucks like to pop out here in the evening and I have perfect wind if one does. He just needs to be mature.

I have one more Friday to get through before I become a participant in this thread 2 Fridays from now.

As always I have no idea how many will be hunting, but if oaks are still dropping and one of the two trees I hope to sit produced this year I just may do an all day sit. Temps will play a huge factor in that decision though.

I know it sounds crazy to do an all dayer on 2nd day of season, but it's my only option if I want to hunt both morning and evening. Otherwise I'll likely sit until midmorning then do some scouting of the unseen forest in hopes of finding my own little sanctuary where no one else hunts.

I'm thinking I need to start being the hunter that doesn't let things happen and start making them happen. Enough of the procrastination

I was craving some tenderloin and eggs yesterday when my son and I were out for early doe gun season. We did not have any luck so I had cereal for breakfast, lol.

    Looks really good!

I’m down and at the truck.

I didn’t see a thing. We’ll see what happens tomorrow morning.

I really thought the cooler weather would have them moving like crazy.

    I was wrong I guess.

7755CEA3-C451-427A-99A4-864D14DCB9C7.jpeg Here’s a little eye candy for everyone. My buddy harvested this freak of nature a couple nights ago in northern Missouri. This guy is a stone cold killer and I’ve picked his brain for years. Guess I need to pick harder. I had to share for motivational purposes . I hope to see some of us behind deer like this this season. Go get em boys!

Only thing that deer lacks is mass, guessing that all went into the double beam on the left side.

As far as where your picking went wrong, stop picking his brain and start picking your stand, on his lands...

    Best of luck wl!
I’m home from my week of chasing elk. Had several encounters but never even drew on one. We finally got some much needed rain for most of the day Saturday, which I really thought would really have them out feeding, but exactly the opposite. They weren’t talking at all the last couple days and no fresh tracks anywhere since the rain.
I’ll be a weekend warrior next weekend and that’ll be the last I can archery hunt elk before it closes this year.
Hope you can connect next week, it can all change in an instant!

Yea he hasn’t posted any measurements yet. I know how pics are deceiving. I immediately thought the same as you. I’ll get to see it when it’s on his wall
