In case anyone is wondering why I would name a spike Trump, I couldn’t help it. With a comb over like this he deserves a Presidential name:

I will try and keep this short. I'm hunting a familiar spot. It's the farthest spot you can go from parking lot, but I always see deer. I call it a island. It's mostly a chunk of land with lots of oaks with marsh completely surrounding it. I jumped a fawn as I'm getting close to the spot I want to be. So I slow down and start to pick a tree. As I'm climbing I see a buck walk out the marsh and he walks to about 15 yards as I'm half way up the tree. He hangs around for another 15 minutes. Finally I'm setup and I start to hear crashing thru the cattails coming right at me, then stops for 20 minutes. Finally I see some movement and can tell it's a doe. She beds down right at 20 yards and goes to sleep. It's way to thick to get a shot, can only see her thru the binos.

So after a hour it's really starting to rain and I'm contemplating getting down. The rain is loud, so I said what the heck let try and sneak up on her. I climb down as quiet as possible and leave my stand and stick at base of tree. I start crawling towards her and get behind a dead log. I peak up and she is only about 8 yards. I look thru binos to pick a spot and make sure not to many cattails. I noticed the tip of her ear is covering her body in the perfect shot. I pull back and stand from behind the log and make the shot. She exploded and went into the thickets stuff possible. I here her go 10 yards and crash. It took me another 15 minutes to even get to her. So much water and so thick you can't see 2 feet in front of your face. Next was 1 hour 20 minutes carry out to the truck, that hurt!

I had a great hunt tonight. Wasn't sure I'd shoot a doe or not, but once the shot presented itself I could not resist. What can I say? I'm weak. Saw 6 total, all does. Sadly, I spined her and needed a follow up . Then I dragged her .63 miles on a gravel road. Wouldn't trade it for anything. The shot you see here is the follow up. image-20200917_192736.jpg

    Now, now.

This is a team competition, not individual

 It wasn’t a challenge. Just an observation.

I’ve never had two does down this early before and now you do also.

I thought it was worth mentioning.

All kinds of personal competitions happen here every year.

I could post a pic of my trophy from one of those competitions.

Then again, I think it was the year before that I lost and had to ship 5 pounds of venison jalapeño/cheese summer sausage to @Tony.

That they do, I was just defending our team being in solo second, not tied

I'm all for the kills happening so early, makes it fun and keeps the anticipation high to finally get out there

Your team came so close this morning to getting bumped to third.

If only I’d put an effing arrow on my bow
