Ok, the “bull” I heard I think is another hunter. He bugled a couple more times and doesn’t sound real. Did have a young cow come out and feed in the old cut I’m set up on. Maybe more will come out soon. So this morning. We hiked up into the timber a ways and then threw out a bugle. A bull answered, we think the one we knew of, but he was way at the top. We kept climbing. While taking a breather I threw out another bugle. The one at the top answered...and so did a different one right across from us. We scrambled to set up, with my BIL moving forward to be the shooter and me moving back to call. Whiny cow calls and another bugle didn’t get a response. I picked up a big branch and began trashing windfalls as loudly as I could. This got an immediate bugle followed by the crashing of him heading our way. After more calling and taking, I ended up having him within 40 yards of my BIL, but with all the timber the bull never stepped into one of his two lanes. He eventually wandered off up a finger draw. Close! But sometimes there’s just no shot. As a consolation prize though, I thumped a grouse on the way back to camp. 18 yard shot. Here’s who I shared an evening windfall with yesterday. He wasn’t too sure if I was ok or not, he kept coming up within 3 feet of me and then scampering back down the log. Lastly, there is a great creek near camp that is great for throwing out a crawdad trap. Here is one of the bigger ones. This week is going by too fast. Good luck to all the evening hunters.
Thanks guys! It has a great story to go with it. I will tell it in a little while. Just got home and it's pouring rain, got to get this deer hung up. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

I'm down and back home. Ended up seeing eight deer. Three small bucks, three does and two unknowns. About 45 minutes before dark a group of three young bucks came in from the NE. The first one in was a spike I've had on camera around the feeder close to the house when it was still up. I call him Trump. His running mate, a nice looking little five point showed up right behind him and then a tiny little spike bounced in. Trump didn't like the situation at all because the Ozonics was working overtime trying to keep up with the swirling wind. He stomped all around me but couldn't figure out what was wrong. While he was stomping around a doe started blowing to the south. I guess it must have been Ol' Blowhard, but I could only sneak a peak because Trump kept looking up trying to figure out what I was. When I peeked I did see three does, so it must have been her. Finally, the young bucks fed off. A little later a deer came running from the south to the north about 50 yards away. Not sure what was going on there. Then, right before last light a deer of some description walked from east to west about 35 yards away in thick cover. Not a bad sit all things considered. Oh, and CONGRATULATIONS HOLT!!!
