That small buck is a good one even for here, can't imagine the bigger one. Profession aside are you able to access records for properties and such for lines and ownership there? Not sure of all the benefits your line of work affords Can't remember if X Hunt has a free trial or not, but a free trial of something similar may help. You deserve a buck like that "small" one every year with your persistence and time put in, the other one would just be icing on the cake. I hope you are able to find the way into hunting them, I think everyone would agree you are due for a buck like these, only a matter of time until you connect.
I already went on the publicly available county GIS websites and pulled off three landowner names. Im gonna at least give it a try. Not very often a guy like me would be able to hunt a 150+ inch buck.
Can't say when, but you're going to knock down that 150. Takes two moments to happen, the moment you see him and the moment you see that arrow fly true. It will happen.
Sorry to hear about your fishing pole, small price to pay for some Intel on a large buck. Hopefully you can obtain permission to the property. Or close to the property. Good luck
Waited two hrs after sunup so they could get back to bed before I went in and hung a cam. Used my pics from yesterday to lock in where they ran to escape. Picked up their tracks and trail. Put out some apples and a trail cam. Will check in about a week.
Will be live from the stand tomorrow for the Tennessee Velvet Hunt! Don’t expect to see much with the weather but will be fun to be in the stand. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I’ve been practicing my routine with the saddle. I have everything set up in my jeep how I would if I was going to hunt. I put my gear on, (which consist of my Waist pack, modded summit viper platform That holds my saddle, and tether). I grab my bow and walk into the woods to my practice tree. Here is my set up process: 1. Put my bow down 2. Take my climbing platform off my back and attach it to the tree at waist level. 3. Undo the bungee cord that is holding my tether and Saddle. 4. Attach tether To the tree. 5. Take off waist pack and put it on the edge of the platform. 6. Put on saddle. 7. Do a 180 and back up to my waist pack, And put it back on. 8. Attach bow rope from the platform to my bow. 9. Step on one step aider to get on the platform. 10. Hook into my tether from my bridge, and start climbing. (simulated) I reverse the process once at ground level. I’ve done this about 10 times today trying to get the process down and memorized. With my climber I had the process so ingrained into my brain and muscle memory I didn’t even have to think I just did everything automatically the same way every time. I wanna be just as proficient with the saddle come opening day. I’ve also been walking every day for the past month or so, about 3 1/2 miles a day. Just this week I upped the ante with a loaded rucksack weighing about 30 pounds. I’m not worried about losing a bunch of weight right now, I’m more concerned about building up my stamina so I can walk in the 2+ miles and climb up a tree with little discomfort. This is going to be such a fun season! Anything is possible!!!
Nice! If we aren't on the same team again, good luck this year Joe! Have you tried you're saddle drill with your eyes shut? Basically simulating doing it in the dark or with out a head lamp.
I'm sure we will be on the same team again! LOL!! I haven't practiced eyes closed yet. I will by next week most likely!!
Try not to blow them out of there for good! That’s a great buck in the pic and if other one is bigger!?!? Wow! If you manage to score permission and they don’t end up traveling to the property you can hunt, then, and only then would I try to bump them out of that spot. Hope they stick around!
Yeah I never got within 60 yards of their bed which was in the middle of the river. They couldn't see me, hear me, or smell me based on the wind. I slipped in there for 10 minutes and hung a cam and left.
Got in and out. One 10pt sticking around from last check along with some smaller bucks. The biggest one didn’t show up the last 3 weeks but I’ve got a new target now. Have to figure out a plan for these bucks showing up at the mineral site the browning is taking pics from. All deer coming from the west (likely bedding on the neighbors). The site is relatively close to the property line. I’ll get a map drawn up tomorrow to get some opinions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
