Out with my son. He has the .22 for squirrels, I have the bow. We are on a new spot on public a little 2 acre winter wheat food plot. Just got settled in with the stakeout blind.

We saw a a few squirrels but nothing Close enough for my son to shoot. We did some scouting for about an hor before sitting the food plot. We found another food plot about 500 yards away that had way better sign, including a scrape on the edge but the wind was wrong to sit that plot.

I'm settled in a blind for the evening. 33° with .5" of snow expected while I'm here. The property owner has been seeing 8 does out here every day.

I had 3 does coming in half an hour before dark, but the neighbor's dog started barking and spooked them. I'll try again next weekend...

I'm back up! Same place as last time. This time I jumped a deer on the way in so I walked about 100 yards up into the thicket the way the deer went and setup. Hoping deer will return at dark to see what scared it. Has worked before, but usually they are very jumpy.

Had a group of deer come up thru this thicket, but I didn't move in far enough. They walked by about 40 yards or so. Too thick to see what they were. Still have 30 minutes left, so hopefully there are more in here.

I sort of took a few days off from the forums while my son and his family are here. It's 3 years and two months since I've seen them. My granddaughter Riley was a baby the last time I saw her and she's 3 now. Good times.

I was out shooting bows with the older granddaughter Elise earlier. I have a 15# recurve that she was shooting. It was fun.

I'm itching to get back in a tree in Arkansas later this week, but it'll be closer to the weekend before I can make it happen.

That was it. I know a little more of were they are bedding and can move another 40 yards closer no problem. The problem is they can leave there bed in any direction, so still a crap shoot. Should be getting back out again this week.

Back at the cabin. Normally no way to get here this time of year but lack of snow makes it drivable.
I had some old peaches/pears/applesauce and lettuce I threw out for the birds n squirrels yesterday.
This morning, about 12 deer came downwind of it. I could tell they were really wanting to investigate but 10 yards from the cabin was a bit to close.

Had a 3 year old 10 and 3 year old 8 come by at about 40 yards and a new "I think" real dandy 150_160ish at about 70 yards.
With such an easy winter, prospects are looking good for next year:biggrin:

Last Saturday a buddy had that same bow in his truck, so I picked it up to look at it. I was really impressed with the feel of it and I really liked that narrow grip on it. Let us know what you think of it.

    What another incredible morning.
Deer were a bit late moving this morning heading to bed.
Ended up seeing 11 bucks total all from the back window.
Only 1 small spike, the others were decent/ big.
Normally deer vacate my piece every winter but we have basically no snow this year and not only are they staying put but some new bucks are appearing that make me smile.
I had no idea there were this many nice bucks around let alone made it through last gun season.
Nothing yet has yet came close enuff to taste the small amount of vittles yet though..

    Loving it so far ![IMG]

Really like it so far! Had it shooting bullet holes. Took it to the indoor range first shot 10 ring through big foam block into back wall, second shot same knocked fletchings off 1st arrow, 3rd shot was similar all the way through foam into back wall fletching came off pulling it out. Long story short they refletched the 5 arrows I brought cause all fletchings got destroyed.

Did a little more shooting when I got home. Have a 3D deer coming today. Gonna shoot some more get it sighted in.

Alright I'm back up after those same does from 2 nights ago. I narrowed there bedding down to 1 acre thicket. I'm in that 1 acre right now. Feel like I got in clean, but never know they could sneak out the back. So if this works it will be a miracle. I walked up wind of the thicket to lay my scent down and let it blow into the thicket. Then I did about a 1 mile hike around it to the down wind side and j hooked up into it. Let's see if it works! Got to try strange tactics to get the deer moving the direction I need.
