A doe fawn feed through. Right sex but too small
One doe out of range right now. Found out yesterday the spot I'm in now is being logged starting Saturday. Last sit in this tree. Good luck for those still out there

Just before dark had a merry chase going on about 50 yards out in the thick stuff
I've had that hanging over me the last 2 winter's at my public spot. Never froze solid enough.
Might happen this year if we don't get snow soon.
Well its like the deck is stacked against me right now. My bow is done and at archery shop. Wife just had surgery so i have the 9 month old, who she cant lift, and my 5 year old. Ill need to spend some time at the shop so he can tie in my peep and i can shoot a few arrows. Cant find a babysitter for anything and this guy is going out of town so looks like i wont get my bow till sometime next week. Oh well. #stayathomedadlife
What an awesome sit! No shots but I saw 16 doe and a half rack spike, closest was 67 yards, hope to be back this weekend!
Looks like you know where to sit in the morning and now where to sit in the evening
Yea stinks when a good spot becomes no more. O well I do have plenty of other areas. I just enjoyed this particular one
Nothing came through. Going to go check another spot about 6 miles away from this evenings spot tomorrow. I have a cam out there so at least I can see whats been moving the last 2 weeks.
Slugger, how is the September bowhunting in NC in Sept? Been thinking of adding 3 to 4 weeks to my season for years. Even if I only get in a half dozen days of hunting in September, it would be worth it if the opportunities were decent. Fish in the morning, hunt in the evening sounds like fun.
I'm not Slugger, but I slept at a holiday inn express before and I'm in NC.
Yeah, hot, humid with lots of skeeters, chiggers, and ticks (Themacell and Permethrin).
The early hunting opportunity is great, if you have animals patterned...or sit water. On public this goes sideways quick... Because it's public (others putting out cams, markers scouting for muzzle or rifle, a few bowhunters. If your on private you've got a better chance. The deer don't have permethrin, so they're covered with ticks.
If you're eyeing a particular piece of public land do your homework (here https://www.ncpaws.org/ncwrcmaps/gamelands), in the regs and in the permit Doc and in forums like NC hunt and fish. There are quirks, like some gamelands may not be open on Sunday or only open 3 days a week, some permit/draw only, certain game, or heavily pressured. Mtn and a few coastal national forest tracts at least have opportunity to spread out (more important in rifle season).
Slugger (and I think Opossum) are east of me, toward the coast, Matt used to be up in the Smokies (haven't seem him on in a year or two).
I've decided, September is now my elk chasin time out west... Ymmv
Hockey practice for both boys. I'll be out Saturday and hopefully Sunday evening.
Im up and at em live from the couch. Good luck guys. I will be getting out soon. Its killing me to not be in a tree. I need it.
I didn’t post last night because we weren’t sure of the shot. It ended up being a quartering away gut shot the broke the offside front leg. But, my oldest got his first deer last night. We had to wait four hours on recovery. He experienced all the highs and lows on his first deer. It is in a cooler with ice and I will be butchering it later today. My dad was in town so there three generations of our family there to share the moment with him.
That's awesome cantexian!
Tell the young man congrats!
