Headed out to do a midmorning scout/still hunt on a new piece of public I have been wanting to try. I am going to stay on the ground. If I find a a decent spot I may sit down and call, see If I can get into some secondary rut action.

Really slow here I’ve hunted 6 mornings in a row and only saw 1 deer not getting much on cams all night pics no pics of any bucks bigger than a 4 point I’m being to think the rumors of the young spotlighters they caught the other night killing over 30 deer right around here maybe true said they been shooting them since August but who knows at least they caught them to bad they just let them go with a fine rant over

Maybe i should not have. Got out to my friends place to shot does and as i pulled into the lane going into the property i saw their grand daughter heading in. She took her boy friend and one of his buddies along.

So much for "everyone is done hunting. We need your help and you have the run of the place..."

I got home about 30 minutes ago. I ended up still hunting through a ridge and bottom that I scouted a couple of months ago. It took me three hours to move 0.6 miles from where I parked to where I turned around. I confirmed that the ridge is a buck bedding area but nobody was home today. I ended finding up a couple of different fresh rub lines. I did a calling sequence near the ones pictured. These three rubs were about 30 yards outside of a thicket.

Bucks are still making active sign and the secondary rut should be going from now until just after Christmas.

I'm in a blind with the 5 year old. Not expecting much. I have to text this property owner when and where I'm going to hunt before I come out each time. We just got here and he's out collecting something in a bucket not 30 yards from the blind and then stood at the blind for a conversation. Gotta love hunting on permission! His Christmas card and cookies will be delivered shortly...

In-laws neighbor thought it was a good time to get the mower out and drive around. Might not see deer tonight now.
