Any one that hunts Iowa I would be more than willing to assist aim any way in zone 6. I’ve hunted a lot of public land in this area.

I have always shot with both eyes open. I "see" the pin, but I'm looking at the target, if that makes sense. I don't sight in the pin, I shoot the target.

    Yep, you have points then.

I should have 4 points next year. We're going to try and draw Late Muzzy for unit 4 next year. We'll see how it goes.

By the way, the evening sit was a total bust. All I saw were squirrels. Lots of squirrels.

There just hasn't been any movement on this side of the road in a while. I'm going to leave the other side of the road alone for a while just in case @cantexian manages to sneak away from home for a few days.

There's a week long muzzleloader hunt coming up in Kentucky next week. I may do what I did last year, which is go there, drop a couple of does, put them on ice and take them to an old friend of mine in Tennessee who loves deer but is physically unable to hunt.

You've probably killed everything south of I-44.

I'm quite sure there were more than 12 deer south of I-44 before season started.

    Have one doe tag left.
Had time for a 2 hour sit tonight and went to a slam dunk doe stand.
I guess nothing read the memo?

Might get in my first snow hunt in years tomorrow. Below freezing all day which would be a first this year. Hope it gets them moving.

The only time I've ever hunted with snow on the ground was last year but it was still snowing hard and nothing was moving. I was really looking forward to the next day's hunt but the daughter/son in law situation that developed that same night nixed that.

I've never gotten to hunt with snow on the ground after it stopped snowing. Someday maybe. I think I might actually be able to blood trail a deer in snow.

Shoot both eyes open. It is not that hard. About 5-6 hours practice time. Unless you are really screwed up like me. Shoot righty-left eye dominant. But that is only an issue the last couple minutes of shooting light. Then i squint the left eye.

I do use a kisser. It helps to have that point along with the tip of the nose. Especially when it gets cold.

How many tags do residents get there? That’s always been a state I would like to hunt but don’t really want to do the whole Non Resident ordeal there. Thought about maybe moving there after I finish college.

Anyone that’s looking for a new state to hunt might want to consider West Virginia they have really big deer and they have atleast 4 counties I know of that are Archery only. They have Monsters in those counties because not as many people hunt there do to the Archery only restrictions. You wouldn’t have to worry about the Orange Army. I know that’s where I’ll be buying me a Non Resident license at next year. My Grandparents live in WV and anytime I visit there is just so many big deer there it’s crazy. They don’t even live in one of the Archery only units so I can imagine the hunting in those units. Not including their Non Resident license and tags are cheap compared to most “big buck” states. WV is a sleeper state compared to the other popular deer hunting states.
