I have yet to try it, but Tony has a recipe on here, you can probably do it quicker than me, search for Tony's famous jerky or something to that affect. Has gotten some good reviews on it.

I hear ya on the salt aspect, that's why I went a bit thicker on the slices so it doesn't saturate as deep. I usually make big batches and don't want it to go bad.

Speaking of saws to cap your buck, this is something I saw a few years ago and absolutely drooled over for the longest time. Not for woodworking or remodeling (it's fantastic for that too), but for deer processing. Specifically quartering.

The wife got me one last Christmas and it is the BOMB when it comes to quartering a deer. It'll tear through a deer's pelvis in no time at all (with the correct blade), and its one hand operation makes it fantastic for capping also.

Know how you feel. Deer are acting very unusual this year.

One more soccer weekend for my youngest and then I will get in maybe 6 to 8 more hunts this year to close out the season. Shooting a lot better after working on stuff. Just need one more chance at a buck. After getting back to work I appreciate each hunt more and more.

I can confirm that those burgers are in fact as awesome as @LittleChief claims. Hands down the best deer burgers I have had. Only elk or moose burgers are better.

Sitting in the woods with rifle again. Hear a gun shot hr and a half before sunrise... Made me wonder. About 20 minutes later I could hear hounds baying... Must be coon hunters out.

Just got set up about 10 minutes ago. 2 deer in the field as I pulled in, walked by a deer bedding in the CRP and just had a deer walk the outside of the field edge 10 yards from me. Could see the outline of the body with how bright it is. Hopefully that’s a good sign.

Good Luck, AM shift. I'm hockey Dad/Coach this weekend. I'm pretty sure there won't be any time to get in the woods with our early and late games, and drive time.
The 4row planter is supposed to be here this morning. Food plots are on the menu for next year. Much bigger ones, for sure!!

    KILL!!!!!

    Good morning!!!

first time posting in a long time. 2 years? Been crazy busy with life and have not gotten a chance to really hunt the last 2 years. Bought a new bow January 2019, and literally hunted with it twice during turkey season then life got ridiculously crazy. Out today with the .450 bushmaster in Iowa today. Feels great to be back in the woods, have been looking forward to this week for the last month.

Was on the way to my stand this morning heard two bucks locked in a heavyweight title fight.

Changed plans and decided to hunt from the ground close to where one might exit out.

For a good 20 mins I thought they might have been stuck together it was so long and more ground noise than antlers clanging.

They were not locked - I was able to see one of the bucks. No idea where the other went.
