I didn't see a dang thing this morning. Rain put me in the house. Should be back at it tomorrow afternoon, after the rain quits.

That made my wife and I both laugh, Brett!

Seriously though, when deer season is over I shift gears to bass fishing. I have to admit that when I'm fishing and I see a deer on the shoreline I think "I could make that shot".

Haha, yeah I could smell him. Didn't smell like a rutted buck more just a deer smell. I have a great sence of smell and hearing, my vision on the other hand, is horrible. That's why I always have binos when hunting.

I have almost bought that exact same (or the green fiberglass stock version) rifle like 17 times.
But as someone who ow errr, is very good friends with someone who will let me borrow a .44 semi-auto carbine, a .35 Remmy 336, and a .450 Bushie; I just haven't been able to justify purchasing yet another big slow heavy hitter that I almost never carry into the field.

I have always thought 45-70s were sexy in a Wisconsin thick corn-fed sorta way.

    45-70 hot:

I've never heard of a Marlin rifle with a synthetic stock, but I guess it's possible.

As to the pic you posted,.... Well, I'll just leave that alone...

I only rifle hunt where I bow hunt. I don't hunt field edges. I hunt in the thick of things. I want a gun that'll clear it's own shooting lane if needed and this one does just that.

I'm colorblind but I've yet to need help finding a deer shot with that rifle. That means they don't go far. :tu:

    Nope. Nope. Nope.

That's just an ugly gun. Looks like what you'd get if my gun mated with a used oil filter.

    Depends on your elevation.

(From 25' up I'd aim higher than your edit.)

I actually like them, but a few years back some were being sold as factory seconds with "slight cosmetic flaws" in the stock for like $450. Definitely worth the beer goggles.

That's about it for me tonight.

It's been a fantastic but very exhausting day and I'm almost totally drained. I think I'll have a couple of beers and call it a night.

Good luck to anyone who is getting out after them tomorrow!

I believe I'm finished for a while. Well, for a short while. Maybe a day or two.....
