Finally made it back home yesterday. I got a full 8 hours of sleep last night and probably could have slept for another four or five.

My son is on stand across the road at my home spot. We checked the cams yesterday and I have four new bucks cruising, including the one below. Very cool looking buck.

Fwiw-I go with no or a minimal hat (if I need to wear orange). Top is the lightest 1/2 zip FL top (used to be called a llano. Base layer legs and corrugate pants. Mid and insulating layers in my pack.

Got in a little late but I'm out here. Mid 20s and no wind. Already seen one but I don't know what it was. Good luck to everyone out. Rooting for you this morning Skyler!

No!!! I thought i was going to seal the deal!! So I just had 2 bucks come in together, one of the 2 giants on this property came in with another smaller 8. The small one came in and stood 20 yards broadside, perfect but the big one hung back and was just starting at my direction. After what felt like an eternity he crept forward and started to blow then slowly walked off. Wind is perfect and I didn’t move while he was looking, only thing I can think is I did a doe bleat followed by a couple grunts so maybe he didn’t see any deer and knew something was off. I know that’s why he’s is a big old mature buck but damn, I’m beyond frustrated. With how many sits and hours put in this year, I thought it was all going to come together. Now I feel like my hunt is over with the buck blowing the area out. Just a beautiful perfectly symmetrical 8, I’m guessing 130

Stick with it. The morning is early. Did he happen to hit your ground scent or did he approach you on lower ground with your thermals still heavy and pooling?

I don’t think so. He didn’t get to where my walking trail was. He came from low ground, up over a little crest of the hill. Anything could’ve happened but idk. I’m not giving up but I can’t lie and say my confidence isn’t shot.

Tough break but hang in there man, you just never know what may happen. He may run across a hot doe and she could head your way. If that happens, he'll forget about everything else.

Well the circus is about over. One more show and you can roll up the tents and move on

I believe i will be as well. Got an invite to do some doe management.

All depends on how the wife feels. She is having bunion surgery the day before...

She will probably kick my butt out the door cause i will be just be sitting watching the lions and cowboys lose. Lol

My walk in is pretty harsh. I sweat like a pig, so I wear shorts and a short sleeve t shirt for the walk in. The first 10-15 minutes of the walk are brutal, but after that, I'm warm. It reduces the amount of sweating. I get dressed at or near the base of the tree. It has worked great for me. Like I said though, the first 10-15 minutes are torture.

I had a spike follow doe and fawn into me. 1/2 hr ago didn't hear them until they right on top of me. Can't see very far due to the snow. They came from the one place I didn't figure they would come from. The wind blowing straight to them. Ozonics Is helping. 16057067541164085843742947155094.jpg

I feel your pain. Going to my stand is totally uphill. Even with breaks I manage to sweat!

So got busted before light then blasted with freezing snow and high winds in face. Then decided to go warm in car because yes I also forgot gloves! Lower bow, go to un tie quiver and broken racked buck is coming at me...of course directly down wind. 10 min stare down and he turns but not spooked.. goes behind thick apples I say to hell with it and raise bow. 30 yards but deflected on buckthorn branch and hit back. Tracked no blood and he went right to the bottom ..died biting a tree. This should take me ALL DAY to drag out

Cold and windy... tucked about a 3rd of the way down this ridge, no wind on the ground level and I’m only getting minimal when it gusts, so far mom and a button came through. Dads giving it till 9:30 then going to try walking the corn field
