I saw only 1 young buck this afternoon. Then I grazed a big yote at 35 yards after lipsqueeking him in, damn! Some hair and drops of blood but I just grazed his brisket.
Got the right wind for my favorite tree tomorrow. Going in with the climber and hoping to see the 8 point beast I had the encounter with this morning. I think he’s on the prowl for a new lady and still in the area. Mercy, he’s a helluva deer
    Good luck everyone!

Anyone else going to be out Turkey Day? I'll be out for a morning sit, will be my next chance regardless as the shotgun crowd takes over this weekend. Left my 4 wheeler as I could not get it and a deer in my truck at the same time, so need to get it back home before the snow chances start going up.

Figure with all the CV-19 stuff going on a few more may be able to get out when they normally wouldn't.

You had the opportunity to end it and you did everything to do so. Yeah we all had a good laugh but you did the right thing.

Sounds like Skylar wasnt so lucky.

But he did ask for advice and applied that advice to his situation. Hope he recovers his deer intact.

Some of us older people piss and moan about the younger generation not listening to anyone older but we have a member who did.

My hat is off to that young man. He seems to be busting his ass to do it right.

Well I’m down to the wire, on our way up to the farm, this will be my last day archery hunting for awhile. Last chance in PA till late season if I hunt up here... Ill probably spend late season more in MD. So we’ll find out by days end if I get my PA buck this year or have to wait till my 16th season to seal the deal. Regardless of how today goes I’ve exceeded my goal of seeing more deer this year and am super happy with my season. Good luck to those that are out!!!

He was very very slightly quartered to me but he was almost completely broadside. There was plenty of room for a clean quick ethical shot but I guess I punched the trigger or something and pulled it about 2 inches over too far. Sorry for the late response I went to sleep at 7pm to get away from the stress. This Is my first circus I’ve been on since I’ve been hunting. I guess I’ve gotten used to all the deer I’ve shot before going down in sight and pretty quickly that I’m just taking it too hard. He’d be my 12th deer if I could get him. Rut is the best right now and I don’t even have the confidence now to shoot at another deer:(

Just keep on chugging man it happens to every bow hunter at some point, learn from it. I talk to myself prior and during the shot. Relax, pick a spot, settle pin, follow through.

All set up! No matter how little clothes I wear on the walk in, I always sweat. The walk is all up hill. So time to sit in my baselayers before I put the heavy stuff on. Good luck to everyone

Finally at camp.45 mp all the way here in a snow storm and no plows out yet. Such fun!
Coming up the steep camp hill road out out of the gully pops a beautiful 8 pt... I stopped the car and rolled down the window. 5 yrds away he stood as I said please stay out of the road and head up the hill for my afternoon hunt . He just looked at me a turned back into the gully he came up from...Oh No matter what...I can say I had a close encounter with a mature buck today...getting dressed at car and walking in. Parked on road to avoid driving by where I'm headed in. Good luck guys

Leaving soon, enjoying my cup of coffee

3 days to get it done. Friday is the last day of Archery season.

Here goes nothing, it's getting hard to get up at 430. Roughly 42 of 46 days.

    Uggggggghhhhhh

That quartering toward shot is brutal. My buck this year was the same angle...shot was right behind the leg, but I only hit 1 lung/liver. I had to put a follow up shot (3 attempts) in him 7 hours later. I'll be waiting for broadside from now on!

Yeah I was waiting for a lil bit of a quartering away but he heard my jacket make a slight noise when I drawed my bow so I rushed it. Thing is if I didn’t pull the shot to the right he woulda Been dead quick. So much of his vitals was exposed for me but I hit the shoulder I think 3 inches back and hes down in 10 seconds.
