Good we both found our deer! My shot was actually worse than yours, and it died within 3 hours amazes me how yours was alive that long.

Hunt the fields guys.... It's bad enough here that the deer are running into the clover field....so up date ...hubby starts yelling OMG look at the size of that buck!! It's one of the really big 8's with 2 doe and a spike... Well Mr Big is now Mr lop side. Yep he lost one side of his rack.. He's at least a 4.5 yr old and dwarfs the other deer. I think he's the dark deer I tried calling out of thick cover the other evening... He probably won't make it through next weekends gun opener, but there is hope.

    Great news @axtell343 !!! Congrats!!

Good luck out there this morning everyone!!

Fun side note, my dad and I were talk9ing at the jeep last night after the hunt and I realized, this is his second season in a row without seeing a deer. The guy had just completed his 6th hunt in the past 6 days. I think it is safe to say the fire has been re-lit for him!!

So close, had a beautiful buck tail a doe at about 40 yards, in the thicket, couldn’t get a shot and couldn’t get them to come out!!

It was actually my dad who brought that to my attention. I was shaking my head saying, "We shouldn't have to work this hard to see deer, this is stupid." When he said...."You saw more bucks this year than any year here prior." I cut him off saying, "yeah it's because I put more time in the stand than any year prior." He responded with, "That might be true, but that's a successful season in my book, considering this is the second year in a row I haven't seen anything" That's when I realized how selfish I was being. I saw 8 deer this year in a hunting situation including 4 bucks, 9 last season, and all my dad saw last year was the ass of a deer and got blown at once this year. I'm gonna put him in a few ladder stands next year to increase his sightings.
