    Many congratulations.
I made it out for the last night before gun season starts in Michigan. I needed a doe to take 2 more steps, I was a bout to draw, when a little buck caused her to bolt....dang. The weather is too nasty for me tomorrow to be in a stand.

Seriously, thank you for making my hunting community bigger and better.

I sure am glad Jimbo got his buck after an exhausting week. I'll be cheering you on tomorrow.

It was an interesting afternoon. I didn't get on stand until 4:00 because we were processing two of the three deer we had on ice and it took a while. I almost didn't even go out but something told me to get out there. I didn't see a deer but I did see three Samoans. Yes, three people from American Samoa in Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri.

I hadn't been on stand 15 minutes when I started hearing voices coming downhill into my valley. Then I saw two orange vests coming along with one dude dressed all in black. They sat down 90 yards away and I assumed they were setting up on the ground to hunt. I whistled and waved to make sure they knew where I was and to my surprise they got up and headed my way.

As it turned out, they were lost and had been for quite a while. When I saw them sit down they were about to make an emergency camp for the night. They were lucky to stumble across me in my valley since storms are supposed to roll in tonight. I told them how to get back to the road they were parked on but they didn't seem to understand my directions, so I climbed down and walked them out.

My son met me at the truck and we gave them a ride back to their vehicle. Here's hoping my valley isn't too screwed up. I'm just glad they're back home safe.

Oh, on a side note, they were gun hunting using .22 rifles and one didn't have any orange on. Sometimes all you can do is shake your head.

In all the years I've hunted that valley today is the first time anyone has ever walked into it while I was hunting. As to the hunting with a .22, I didn't say a word. There were three of them and one of me and there are some weird folks in these parts.

I wasn't going to go out Sunday because of the forcast, but since they changed the rain/wind until late afternoon, I'm going to hunt first light until it starts raining. I want to be able to say I hunted deer for the first time in my life on a Sunday in Pa.

Not to mention, I checked my cams that sat for the last two weeks, and FINALLY got a shooter! He's a really nice, fairly tall 8pt with very nice brows!! Among the biggest I've seen in my woods. The funny (not really) part is he came past my cam on Nov 7th, that's the hot day I was bitching about, then I left around 12:00PM to go to that election party!!!! We'll, he went past at 2:30PM!!! I would have seen him, but I don't know if I would have gotten a shot, or not.

I have to wait to share the pic, which I will, because my card reader on my printer isn't working, so I'll have to go to a Rite Aid and get pics printed. I'm excited for tomorrow. :tu:

Thx VS, thx for the words of encouragement. The next week is uncharted as this first time I can hunt past this weekend, as Pa has extended the season this year to the 20th. Of November.

So now the decision is where to sit.

    Climber or ladder stand

Up and making coffee! Joe would be proud of me getting up at 2;30AM to go hunting. I'm hoping that 8pt is still in the area. LFTS after light.

Finally hunting in PA on a Sunday!!!! Got in nice and quiet, bumped one up about 50 yards from the stand, it didn’t bolt, just got up and walked off, I think it came back while I was getting set up, heard something walking... same spot I was at one Friday when I had 3 different hunters walk in on me, my hope is people are in the woods and have the deer moving!! Good luck out there today guys

Good luck Sunday archers, especially those in PA. I feel your pain, NJ just opened Sunday archery hunting on private and WMA'S 2-3yrs ago.

Perfect wind, cooler temps and a high pressure system setting in. On my way to the stand for my first morning sit this year. As a wise old man once said.. tenor (1).gif
