Glad to hear you made the trip back to Ohio Jim. Like others have said, treestand therapy is in order, and I hope you feel more at ease with the seeing the sunrise.

I'm kinda pissed right now. Tomorrow I'm gonna have to go to Big R/Home and Farm and buy a bone saw. I probably need one anyway but still, not my job.

Wonder if Harbor freight has them, betting they have one that would work......

Sorry for the late update. I ended up seeing a group of 15 doe as I was walking into my stand for my evening hunt. They were coming from where my stand was at. Then on stand tonight, I saw 3 doe and a fork horn buck for my evening hunt. None of them came within range.

What a day though! I ended up seeing more deer today than I ever have in any one day in my life! I saw a total of 30 deer all within 70 yards but none inside of 40.

I am going back for day 2 of 3 tomorrow. It is a brand new spot to me and looking to score my first public land deer. I have high hopes for the morning!

I do but not sure I have good blades for it. Last time I used it was sawing off the antlers of a dead head I found to use for rattlers. Ended up being some of the most annoying blood blister causing sons of bitches I have ever hit together.

One other note from today I found funny. When I was walking back up to grab 4 wheeler and knife, as I got up to the dam/levee of the pond I could see a log sticking up out of the water with a shiny ball on it. Figured it was a turtle after all the heat the past week, but it hadn't slid into the water yet. Slowed down and crept up, and sure enough, little painter about 7" diameter. Walked all the way to the edge of pond, 7 feet from it and wasn't sure if it froze during the morning, when it plopped into the water. Pretty sure this is the latest I have ever seen a turtle on the property sunning.

There was the time several years back in 2015 I had a leopard frog hop across the same field/open area posted above and right under my stand that I canceled my vacation and moved it to the next week, but that was about a week earlier.

Little mid-season reminder, make sure you are safe climbing these trees. I didn’t lock my carabiner holding my lineman’s rope, damn if I wasn’t 1/2” from a long trip to the ground. Somehow the carabiner got opened, the hook part was barely holding the loop on my saddle.
Be safe fellas, and I’ll see you in the tree tomorrow.

If you are good with it in your heart, then it was the right choice. God has a way of giving us the vision to see the right choice, even tho in our minds we think we are wasting time. I feel that very soon in your future you will see it was the right choice. I’m sorry for your loss, you are one of the reasons that I love this site so much, your positivity makes me want to be a better hunter and man in this world.

That's the whole thing, I never whined this year. Didn't have signal to, but today was only my 3rd sit regardless

I'm sitting tomorrow out as I do not have another buck tag. Might buy one tomorrow, held off tonight as I knew I would not be hunting in the morning. I'm not even sure my freezers can hold one, let alone two deer.

If i want another i have to wait till late muzzleloader season then use my bow. Which opens right after shotgun. Im thinking kill one or two with shotgun and call it a year. Spend the cold months inside with my daughters. And i suppose my wife. She may kick me out by then. Or i could just get a doe tag.
