Just loaded up the 4 wheeler, looks like brunt of storms will miss me, so would rather do it before the rains get here. Almost threw the sled in the truck, think it will be plenty wet for it to slide, but didn't want to seem over confident

Hopefully I'll be alone tomorrow and Thursday as that would suit me best and allow me to switch stands when I get bored.

My biggest concern is dress, going to be 34 degrees in the morning but warms up into the low 50's with little to no wind. Not sure whether to go light and freeze for a few hours in the morning or wear the heavier gear and get heated, never really layered up to strip layer as I don't take a pack, would be either sitting on shed layers or tossing to base of stand, seems like too much extra scent.

I may just use some hand warmers to keep my hands warm and tough it out for a few hours.

Kicked a group of doe out on way down so back tracked and circled got to stand just as they were passing it so waited a bit. Got up set up and as I turn to sit hear a grunt. On ridge above me another group of doe have two bucks on them and they go right to dog house blind. I grunt and bleat and everything went silent. I then see a 8 turn and head away on ridge. I call again ,next thing I know he is flying down the hill .looked like feet never touched the ground and fully stretched out. He's on the group I'd kicked up and they lead him on a 100 yrd ring around the posy around my stand before disappearing down hill.
That was a fun start!...I have wicks out and they are down wind of me...let the games begin.

70 day before, 40 yesterday, 27 now. Weather came in quick, freezing rain to snow. Pretty quiet and calm, just a slight breeze. Feels magical, we'll see what happens. Sure is pretty regardless.

Might have to brush snow off the decoy ...[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Just sat down and it is just dumping snow. Back in the stand I missed the big one from. Left the bow at home. Have my dads old 30-30 he gave me when I was a kid. Haven’t used it in quite some time.

Just got set up. I'm 50 pages behind so congrats to all that killed. 80 degrees overlooking a water hole in this combined corn. I didn't plan on hunting but I had a free hour. These unplanned hunts seem to produce the best results so hope they hold true.

There is literally ZERO big buck sign where I hunt. It's all small saplings that get rubs. Small scrapes. The big boys are there and smart enough to know better than to leave sign. Could be the same where you are.....

    Bruh...I'm tryin to motivate you....LOL!!!

This place doesn't have the buck sign. But they are here no doubt. Proving to be a tough place although I've gotten off shots on 3 great bucks the last 3 years...all pathetic misses with two Skims. Operator error. But day in and day out sightings? Rough. I've seen one great buck..a spike..and a 4 pt over about 12 hunts this year. Maybe more hunts.

I want to hunt spots where I can get away from other people. Been real hard down here. This base is set up easy access..

Last ditch effort to try to gain access for the fishing hole bucks?

I don't know how you guys can do it in states with ungodly amounts of firearm hunters.

We have 7 days and I believe 2-4 days for shotgun and youth, then a 4 day muzzle loader season and only select counties for late winter firearm. but leading up to the rut and through it maybe 11 days before 2nd week of December and never more than a 4 day stretch until late winter.

I'm taking my kayak back there a few times starting Saturday. All day. I hope the pressure pushes them down into that swamp.

On the way home from work tonight and had a manifcent 10 point standing 10 yards from a big old momma doe in the middle of a 400 acre bean field. Think lock down is here in my area! Explains the blanks I got last week. Be out tomorrow evening hunting off the ground on my portable camp stool. Checking out mutiple fields on the lease. Move and sit... Move and sit.. for the last 3 hours of day light.. Getting aggressive... I can do this... Like the little train that it could said!

It sucks. Especially while your bowhunting I’m not 100 yds away looking down a scope I’m right on top of it. Baffling to me also is why I have to wear it while in a tree stand.

Yeah, I know it's been a tough year for you....

We should team up and go out to some public land in the midwest next year! I can sneak away from school for a few days probably.

Look at me...... trying to make a friend.....LOL
