Oh , don't take that the wrong way VS, what I meant was, I don't have the "balls" too do it.
Even if I had super low deer #'s and nice weather, I could not do it.
MUCH respect for those that have the "balls" to do it.

K guys, gonna come clean. As long as the temps are comfortable, I Love high wind days!
Now, I may be abit spoiled and have access to quite a few properties so your milage may vary but.
On windy days, HUNT THICK cover!!.
Or get in a bottom area off the ridge tops.
I sat in an oak tonight thats probably 24" in diameter. Was only up about 12 feet but it was rockn n rolling.
    Winds we 30+. A few gusts were:jaw:
I got in the stand about 2:40 and left at 5:25.
I was covered in deer. The spot I hunted was a SUPER thick spot of maybe a 1/2 acre of prickly ash and buckthorn.
Visibility sucked (shooting lanes) but the deer were moving great!
I'm spoiled as I have time in the summer too clear lanes through this stuff.
Bucks were chasing does this morning and this evening in that thick stuff. Had a great time while some of my best friends were watching football:bash: saying it was too windy too go out.
I like hunting in the thick, seldom sit on a field edge. I doubt I'd have seen a deer tonight if I did, but back in cover, it was great action.
Anywhoo, no arrows launched. Got 2 here I want but have not been able to seal the deal.
2nd day of mn gun season, I was outside purty much all day. Never heard ONE shot:eek2:.
Will be out in the morning. Hope its kinda windy:tu:

In our defense it usually isn’t t-shirt weather at night on November 7th and 8th.

We’re here in camp discussing firing up both generators so we can turn the AC on to cool the travel trailer down to sleep.

I was sitting on stand this afternoon wishing I’d just thrown my ASAT 3D suit on over my skivvies.

Until around the 17th or 18th. At least 3 days into gun season which starts on the 14th.

That's what I'm saying. The weather is a powerful thing with deer movement, even during the rut.

Just wondering if you were going to be there Wed. Think that is going to be a big day for the thread.

Just curious, did you check along your bucks death run for that missing beam? looks pretty clean with a stab in the dirt as the only thing making it look not so fresh. Wouldn't be the first buck to snap off during the run by smacking a tree or in one guys(NYbowhunter?) case falling off a cliff  Would still count for contest points.

Warm days and still a pretty bright moon as well. It took me out of it, plus I hate having to compete for stand selection, especially when the weather is iffy. There's a ground blind and now a new hang on within 25 yards of a great rut stand, both for movement and observation. The stand is a ladder in a dead walnut tree which will be falling here in the next couple years but I always envisioned putting up a permanent tripod stand in it's place.

What I really need to do is take two sticks and my lone wolf and get into some of the thick stuff. Get just high enough above it and hope a shot opportunity comes about, I think I'd be better off trying that rather than to sit on the ground in a not so good spot.

Big congrats to the young lady! That's a heck of a nice buck. Glad your property is working out for you folks, must be a nice feeling having it.

Hey Bill, remember when I post a couple weeks ago about a strange noise I heard in the swamp and you posted a pic of bigfoot? Do you remember what post or day that was? I might be connecting some dots here and found out just what that was.

Was it a buck? My biggest buck I killed on Oct 23 and he was trailing a doe and would make loud roars. Before I saw him I coulda swore it was a bear but the doe never got startled and eventually he showed himself

Yes I believe what I heard was a buck. But what I heard wasn't a growl. More of a death moan. I'm going to post up a little story that is just a theory of mine. But all the dots are starting to connect.

I’m ready for a break... Although I haven’t had any all day sits yet I think I’ve been in the stand morning and night the last 6 or 7 days.

Tomorrow is projected for 1+” of rain. Think I will sit it out and get some work done.
