    All settled in waiting on daylight had 2 walking around near my stand on way in didn’t spook saw about 10 on the way drive down all looked to be does really warm out 56 degrees getting up around 80 see what happens good luck to everyone

    Woke up a little early this morning...so excited for this weekend. Gonna sit for a bit this morning, head home and bass fish, and then head back out. All day sit tomorrow with a perfect south wind. Put a scent line out - several fresh scrapes.

    Grateful.

    Complete cluster this morning. Missed the area I wanted by 100 yards. Had to back track down a great rut funnel. And had to cross a swamp that I didn't want to go near in the first place and sunk up to my knees in swamp muck. Now I smell swamp diarrhea! Cut a huge set of tracks walking in and could smell the buck. He laid down all kinds of new scrapes up on the ridge last night.

    My buddies 6 year old son - never been hunting has been begging me to go. So today is his day - going to sit on the ground and from a blinded in tree line this morning...

    Hunts like this make me a really good kinda nervous - because I want him to have a good experience. It’s important to me that he has fun. So I just hope we see some deer maybe some rutting deer!

    Drove 100miles to hunt. Both my bedding areas taken by other hunters. Drive 2 miles and go into another one.

    Right at 1st light a mature buck is coming out of the thicket and gives me a 10 yd broadside. I begin to draw and he looks 20 ft into the tree and trots off. My gosh man.

    Gunfire has started, lots of semi shots... Only problem, rifle season doesn't open till next week?

    Wtf! Only legal explanation would be small game or coyotes. But wtf! I checked the dates twice and even checked season dates.

    Oh, in the stand. Was skiing great to the stand buckle clinked on the stand. :eek:
