So did my wife. She called me all freaked out while I was tracking my deer. Thank God her car could still be driven. She was 1 1/2 hours from home and 2 hours away from us.

Yup. I killed it from the same tree Josh killed his buck out of yesterday. Greg is gonna sit there tomorrow and the next day. If he kills a buck you and Adam will have three guys sitting in camp trying to put you on bucks.

Actually, he's broken off. Never seen a main beam snap with part of the base of a tine still there.

I’ll be out tomorrow morning. At a different property with my brother. I’ll have a rifle with me though. Minnesota gun opener tradition.

Good luck in the AM everyone.

Well, I wouldn't call it ground shrinkage. I thought he was a 110 - 115-ish buck. I just didn't realize the left side had been broken right at the base of the G2. I don't need another set of antlers on the wall or another mount. I just wanted to kill a buck to put some points on the board. To be honest I am a little bummed that I didn't notice the broken left beam but I'm still jazzed to kill a buck with my bow on public land.

No way. That break occurred long enough ago that he'd rubbed the broken surface almost smooth. If he'd rubbed a little more we might have mistaken it for just a funky rack.

By the way, my son in law Josh is a tough young man and I saw him do something this evening I've never even heard of.

We rolled the deer cart down to within 25 yards of my stand for the recovery of my buck. We found him about 75 yards from where I shot him but he was down a fairly steep hill.

Instead of bringing the cart down to the buck Josh made a backpack out of the deer. He cut the front legs at the lower joint but left the tendon intact. Then he made the slits in the hind legs like you'd do to hang one on a gambrel.

At this point, he pushed the hooves of the front legs through the slits and they made a "T" with the tendon being the vertical part of the T and the lower leg bone being the horizontal part. That locked both front legs in the slits in the hind legs.

My son and I rolled the buck over onto it's back and Jost laid down on it's belly, slipped his arms through the "loops" made by the legs and we helped him to his feet. He then proceeded to walk up the hill wearing an entire buck, guts and all, on his back like a backpack.

That was pretty amazing to me.

It's not something I think I could do, but if you're in good shape it would sure beat dragging.

Couple more drops then i left off. But now deer and 783 yards between track and grid search. Ill hunt in am if i wake up. Newborn and all dont get to sleep all the time. Get done or just go out and pick apart grid searching. Thinking front of shoulder one lung. Had bubbles and bright blood. Then one drop of blood clot and nothing.

Yeah yeah. All those deer on the wall. Haha im just playing. Ground shrinkage was referring to the half antler.

Public land is great if you look at it right. Finding that out now.
