Whatever works I tend to think of it as a statement but we'll see where it is come Halloween. If Shane doesn't show back up and you want to defect.....
No, I have no plans to shoot a doe in the evening. Well, maybe Sunday evening since I'll be headed home after the AM sit Monday.
I'm thinking of trying something new this year. Usually don't hunt early season due to the temps. Thinking this year I may do so, and if I can connect I may just dress it out and then skin it on site. Apply a good cure and splay the meat open on some elevated screens in hopes of coming back the next day to some jerky....
Is Shane a no show?! Dang... the weed, man. What a shame. I miss that guy. Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Hopefully none. Seriously, on the places I hunt I could kill a doe every day for the entire season and I wouldn't knock a significant dent in the population.
Noooo, he's here. He checked in and said he was going to sleep and would check back in when he gets up... He'll be back, just used to giving him a hard time. Crazy to think he was a young kid when he came on the scene here, now about to graduate college

Alright guys just a little review of what happen tonight. I had zero service and just barely enough to get a text out, most failed. I knew Alan was on stand and posting, so I was texting my sightings to him. It started at about 3:00 I left my truck and walked around a corner of field about 50 yards from my truck and ran into a buck. He was bedded in the tall grass, about 100" 10 pt. He ran out the back and down to the swamp I was hunting. Only buck I saw tonight. About 5:30 had a doe run down the hill like a horse. She stayed around most of the evening, but never got closer the 80 yards. Then had a doe with 2 fawns come in from other direction and meet up with that doe and they just milled around eating swamp grasses. Right at 6:30 had another lone doe walk in from directly in front of me. Let he pass by and shot her at about 20 yards as she was quartering away. Perfect double lung and she only ran 40 yards. From the pic above you can see she was a swamp doe, her feet were stained black almost up to her knees! Then a fun 1 hour long drag back to the truck. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Shared from FB. For us who opens tomorrow. Twas the night before deer season, and all through the house, Not a creature was steering, not even a mouse. All the bowstrings were waxed, and in the cases with care, In hopes that deer season would soon be there. The young hunters were nestled all snug in their bed, With visions of Big Bucks and does in their heads. And momma in her 'kerchief, all angry at dad, Because of all the time spent preparing his bag. When morning came round, coffee so warm, All the hunters were thinking, "Is there going to be a storm?" Watching their videos getting all pumped, Unloading their guts by taking a dump. Getting in their camouflage, and all their hunting stuff, Firing up their Scent Smokers and watching them puff. In to their vehicles and off to the woods, Hoping they remembered everything they should. Arriving at the hunting grounds, feeling just like Christmas morning, Hoping they give their prey no fair warning. Some walk to their stands and some to their blinds, Can't wait to leave all their worries behind. As day slowly turns from the night, The birds wake up and begin to take flight, They sing their songs that have sounds of beauty, While the hunters high alert while on their call of duty. Waiting and watching for anything that moves, The hunters are slowly sliding into their groove. Some will find success, and some will get skunked, To most it doesn't matter if they get punked. The smell of autumn, and the changing of leaves, This is why a hunter and breathes. For on the opening day of deer season, To be in the woods is life's reason. Good luck everyone Sent from my SM-G950U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
