For me it comes down to having tagged a doe or not. I have not yet this year, so I would be headed for option 2 tonight and hoping to fill multiple doe tags and get lucky with a good buck coming to check all the does. But, if you asked me next week instead of this week? Probably going to choose option 1 and get back to chasing the does later in the season.

Syc- I am in a similar position. I alternate days.

I hunt a property with some big bucks. I'll only shoot a big buck there until December.

I also hunt a farm that is overflowing with does. I have seen 2 decent bucks here in 3 years. I'll shoot any doe I can....except tonight. I'm hanging with some friends AFTER I get done hunting.

Great buck there...I forget who, but nice going.

This corner of the cornfield has numerous islands. The deer feel safer by them. I'm within 100 yards of the stand I sat in on Monday and saw 4 younger bucks - all doing some chasing. 20201104_160855.jpg

Just started day drinking to assure I can fall asleep at 7-8pm for a true 3am wake up. Should have the property to myself tomorrow for at least the morning to early afternoon portion.

On the way out today I drove slowly by the smaller 5 acre parcel that abuts the southern road. May give it a gander sometime this rutcation. Not sure if I can handle a hang and hunt right now, at the road portion it had pretty steep ridges and a lot of leaf litter. May be a tough go from the ground and being unfamiliar with the layout.

I’ll be hunting this spot for the rest of the year most likely. Just a pure travel corridor. The access is terrible and the tree/cover is terrible, but I don’t give a crap anymore. Have to get to where the deer are. My knees wobble a bit when I’m standing in the stand... That tree is not very big. The straps on my sticks and stand don’t fit on the big tree.

If you can access it with a vehicle of some sort, that big tree looks prime for a permanent 20' double man ladder stand.

If the deer are listening in, I am not hunting this evening. I repeat I am not on stand with an itchy trigger finger. Out.

Tomorrow it begins, if we have enough participating, it is a Thursday after all.

Either way, beginning Saturday it will be non stop for a week or two. I think part of it is we do not have as many active members in the thread, and those that do we are not all out at the same time.

I have yet to participate in this thread this year. I have yet to hunt and I did not make my annual pilgrimage to Kansas. I am just hunting Maine, so I am waiting a couple weeks until it gets a little cooler, and our rut is always towards the end of November. But I am following with enthusiasm.

    Well...

They didn't know you were there, otherwise they would have obliged.
