Well I didn’t make it out today. Had a family get together that turned into a later night than I thought. Didn’t want to get up this morning and then be a grouchy tired out dad for Halloween night. Got work done at the property, put a blind in, and got the doe decoy stashed near my ladder stand. Oh, and a game cam put back out by my climber. Plan to be in a tree tomorrow.

Been there done that on a 7 pt one year. Had a beautiful big 8pt just 5 yrds out of range when the 7 came in. I thought he had an arrow sticking straight up between his shoulders. It was one of his ribs. He'd been hit by a vehical and was on the decline, yet still doing a slow dog on a doe. I chose to burn my tag on him not the big 8pt.. He was full of infection and the DEC took him and gave me another tag. I think about that 8 every so often but never regret the decision.

I saw a doe and fawn just as i was getting down. And a Monica downwind at that time.

The wind was horrid. And going to be 10 mph faster tomorrow. Had snot running down my face like a 2 year old. Not a good look on a grown man.

Will be out tomorrow but will sit in a shack to stay out of wind and have some stability

Had a deer behind me to start the sit and another munching behind the blind to end it. I was throwing arrows into the field to scare it off at sundown...

Sounds like most sits you get a deer behind you. Might be time to spin the blind 180 degrees.

    well done Wop:cool:

Ended up seeing about 15 deer (1 buck).
They did exactly what I'd figgered they would. Stay low to the river out of the wind.
Had a giant doe at 8 yards. Would been proud to plug her but I don't have a doe tag for this area.

Congrats @Wop 75 ! You did what a true woodsman/sportsman would do and showed a high level of respect for the animal we pursue. Well done!

Doe and her fawn came in with about 15 minutes left of light. The fawn was a very dark chocolate colored but the doe was normal grayish. Anyway she suckled'the fawn, then they browsed and preened around me for that last 15 minutes and then the doe walked within 5 yards and gave me a ridiculous perfect shot. Just not gonna smoke a doe that's still suckling.

What's funny is I will probably always remember this sit even though I literally didn't see a damn thing all day long until the last 15 minutes and I didn't even take a shot.

    Great hunt.

I could just open the back windows and smoke a couple, but that's the neighbor's property. 80 acres of deer heaven PETA sanctuary and I have 3 sets right on the property line.
