    I've been out. Saw 12 Doe and the 8pt, all between 10 and 2. Was crazy quiet the rest of the afternoon . Kinda surprised me. My phone eventually died. Good luck tomorrow Holt! I'll be back out in the AM, just not sure where I'm gonna go yet.

    Dang Holt.
    Was hoping you'de wait longer.
    I've been guilty as hell myself and pushed it. To many times.
    Its so easy to get caught up in the moment.

    Had an incredible first sit this evening behind my cabin.
    Had a string of 9 does with not a fawn in the bunch come by.
    They were so relaxed until they hit the scentstream from the cabin.
    My dog, open window in my truck,etc put them on alert.
    The bedding area they came from, a super thick back river point is a bit to close to my stand.
    I can't see a deer until it 15 yards away.
    Got tired from grabbing my bow.
    All told, I had about 16_18 does within 20 yards, 5_6 fawns and 4 bucks.
    Got a bit fevered on one buck. He's a perfect 10 with long tines but he's a small deer.score maybe 135 but I doubt he'd dress-150#.
    Anywhoo, a great sit in my favorite stand.
    Back out in the a.m.

    Alright guys, just want to thank you all for all the encouragement tonight. I will back after that buck in the morning and nothing I can do now. So I just want to raise a beer and cheers to all of you and thank you for being part of this great deer camp! This beer is for you!

    Just got in. Was pinned down in the blind for an eternity! Prolly 20 minutes. But the freaking screech owl that turned it loose over my head scare th pe crap out of me and I yelled WTF! Field cleared --- problems solved.? Hell they ran back towards me!

    Be back there tomorrow hoping for a return appearance.. little earlier would be nice!

    I literally laughed out loud when I read that. Having birds flush in the dark has made me audibly gasp/scream before, they always wait until your are right on them :lol:

    I'm sucking on one right now holt:biggrin:.

    So peaceful.
    Woodstove is cranked, dogs laying at my feet, no people or traffic and some ice cold beer.
    Heggies Pizza on the grill here in a bit.
    Life is good and next Wednesday, it'll be even better:usa:

    Right spot, wrong time. Got stuck in tree while doe and fawn feed right damn under me. I could make out her outline but I didn’t have enough light to make a good shot, I mean, I could have hit her, but I don’t want to be up all night looking for a deer.
    That’s all for me, our youth weekend is this weekend, my son is a year from being able to legally participate, I should be in Illinois Thursday or Friday through Sunday.

    I had one of the best hunt of my career and didn’t even see a stinking deer haha. Took my daughter on her first hunt. She was so excited, I really think she got my passion for hunting genes. She loved painting my face! She said she still had fun and wants to go again even if we didn’t see anything. She got a big kick out of all the birds flying around the blind and trying to make noises to trick me into thinking a deer was there. The last pic she drew for me when we got home and slid under bathroom door when I was in shower.
