I don't own lightweight merino wool. I would be too hot in it in that weather. I was saying that if I did, it would have to be at least that cool before I would consider lightweight merino under my early season clothing. I typically hunt in early season clothing all year down south, unless I am duck hunting. Standing waist deep in water in January gets cold no matter where you are.

When I hunted Saturday, the high was 53. I wore my early season clothing with my lightweight, breathable bug proof layers underneath. I still sweated a little climbing the tree.

Mine is like that when I travel to MI. Somedays it takes 2 hours to get a text out. She forgets that and freaks if I don't let her know I'm down safe.

Got it. Thought for a second you had gone all southern.

As good as it gets right here. Congratulations to her.

First time in this stand. I sit here during prime time. Some of the bedding area is flooded...crazy. I saw the biggest buck of my life in Michigan 2 years ago.

    Time to kill.

    Pitter patter!
Probably won’t hear much from me, I’m OTF, not as much cover as I’d like but it’s a good pinch point.

Blew a doe and fawn out of the cut corn getting to my stand. Can never get out here early enough.

3 New scrapes and 2 rubs opened in this little corner in 2 days. I’m on the sign... just need to bucks to cooperate during daylight.

So I ran over to the lease after work and talked to the farmer.

They are trying to get the bottom river field out before it rains. He is a supper nice guy and a hunter. He actually is a bow hunter and shared some pictures from the property that buts up against my lease. Nice to know these guys are running around down on the river!

We got a reciprocal track agreement if a deer we shoot crosses property lines.

Just got settled in my surprise stand and already have a doe working towards me. Going to be a lot of action at this spot so I won't be updating much. I'll update at dark. Good luck to all!

Just had a weird some type of gutteral, growl about 60 yards away. I could hear some movement, then heard that noise, it was strange. Hoping a big buck!

Fawn or small doe came by at 50.

Have a red squirrel that’s been heckling me the entire time I’ve been here. Annoying little ****.

Nice 6 just at the tips of his ears walked my path in, circled my tree, smelled my pee and walked off down wind to some scrapes. A bit nerve racking since I didn’t really do much scent control.

Well, was running late, get in, get set and a hunter walks out about 70 yds to the east, at least stayed on the downwind side. Nice guy, he's hunted hear a long while but I bought the land here recently and close end of this week. But have permission to hunt before then. He was nice enough to move to a different stand and let me have this one since it is all I have set up. So here's to hoping the scent isn't all mucked up and the big boy follows the same playbook tonight. Have the decoy out this time, so we'll see. I think she looks pretty. [IMG]

    Double digit does
    And 1 buck

    Shooter 10
Not real wide - maybe 15"
    Tall

Chased does for a second and then headed my direction
Ended up 40 yards down wind...busted me

2 does came by at 10. No bucks following.

Sounds like they are chisel plowing our field now. Going to change deer movement again.

Yhey're pretty much across the street from every dollar general around here

They're pretty good actually, they sell it by the slice. A bit pricey when you get them by the pizza, I like to grab a few on the way home from hunting for a quick meal.

Word of warning though, it can be sauced heavier at times and the cheese likes to come off with the first bite when still fairly hot. Can leave a bit of a mess. Either let it cool a bit for road food or scarf it down in the parking lot.
