nothing after that small buck went through. river was higher when i left. it was raging about waist deep. that's enough of that crap until it goes down. it just isn't worth it. im going to hang a new set in the morning where i saw the big one this morning.

Still in the stand covered in deer. Chasing everywhere.

As much as it sucks, don't let it deter you. If you have cams out in the area you might be surprised with what deer tolerate. They might move in that area more in the overnight hours for a few but it is a good area for a reason and it will return that way, hopefully quicker than you think.

Don't let a gut pile deter you either, it will be gone rather quickly and I don't think it has any influence on deer. I've never moved a deer more than needed if moved at all for convenience on me, and never had a bad experience from it. I've had the sun rise and a couple hours later notice something, that ended up being a gut pile, and still seen deer. Have seen deer walk up and sniff them as well. Plenty of deer die in the woods on a regular basis that is not hunting related, the human scent may muck it up for a short time depending on how the land is used throughout the year, but animal parts aren't going to phase them a bit.

That doesn't sound worth it at all, wouldn't take but a stray log to come chugging along. Especially if you're packing a lot of gear in and out.

    Stay safe!

Finally back at the house. I had to throw my hand warmers to scare the deer away.

+1 for PA being stupid and not allowing Sunday hunting all year.

Love seek one. They’re easily one of my favorite channels. I don’t know how they do it but they continually kill absolute freaks.

Probably should put this in the rant thread.
The weather channel app sucks. It showed that it was going to snow until 1 or so and then clear up and just be partly cloudy. It rained/snowed all night too, so I figured when the storm quit the deer might start moving. Was going to sit until dark.
Nope. Socked in and even though it was 24 degrees it was freezing rain rather than snow.
    Maybe tomorrow.

Nah, this post belongs here. Sorry about the weather. I hate that lying-azz Weather Channel app. I'd give real money to find a weather app that could give me a better idea of what to expect weather-wise.

Edited to add Holy Crap that looks cold!

Have party good luck with the weather channel and AccuWeather here.
I base my stands on it.

Accu weather doesn’t have the small town near where my whitetail spot is. The nearest one it has is 30 miles away and about 3,800’ lower in elevation. Weather is night and day different at my property.

Weather Underground has the small mountain town near my spot, going to try it for a while to see how accurate it is.

Good luck to any East Coasters hunting tomorrow. Nearly a 30 degree temp drop from today to tomorrow.

A cheap push up stick of Allen (or similar) string wax will accomplish the same thing. I have one in my pack for just that purpose.

I don't use Lone Wolf stands, but my Summit Viper will start to make noise sometimes in a Hickory tree or a Red Oak Tree. Most times with a Summit stand it's the teeth that make the noise biting into the bark, particularly after repeatedly sitting and standing.

There have been some trees where the cables make the noise. I encountered that hunting President's Island in Memphis, TN when the only climbable trees were wild Pecan. The rubber coating made a squeaking noise. That's when I started carrying cheap string wax.
