Just a reminder but my battery died in my rangefinder today while shooting the bow. Got a fresh battery in it for the season. Would have to say I would be upset if I found out it died while up in a stand. I use it everytime to get reference spots while in stand. Check them or carry an extra with you.

Actually just bought a new rangefinder...entered the Vortex rangefinder family. Always a new battery goes in for sure!

I know this may be hard to conceive, but here was a time, before rangefinders. I'm that old.

Two drills, I practice, just in case my range finder dies:
*Practice reckoning the distance. Pick a target, estimate the distance and check it either with a rangefinder or poaching it off. When I'm board out of my skull on a workout hike or a walk with the dog, easy to accommodate (mailbox, fence post, tree, target)

Picking a point half way, another good verification.

*practice shooting unknown distance, without the rangefinder. Though you may want to have a cut chart or do some quick math approximations if shooting up/downhill.

Though I may pick up a backup battery this year, just in case.

I have never once been able to tell the difference in a fawn and a big doe. No idea when people started saying that but it makes me wonder if my taste buds are broken lol I don’t shoot them on purpose. When I have I have always been disappointed because of the amount of meat give a 2.5 year old doe every time. Now a big buck that has been rutting for a month and has no fat left on him, I have tasted a difference there lol they always go to the processor to be ground into sticks and sausages.

That's why go to 3D shoots, judge the distance and shoot. Then range it. I'm usually within 2-3 yards. Not always but than not

I have a back battery for my range finder before the season starts. Usually get 2 years out of battery. Sometimes 1 1/2 year.

That’s my favorite way to do it too. I didn’t go to one this year they were pretty much all canceled.

Most of the Sportsmen's Club have one on Sundays. They take turns every week.

I run the Sparta sportsmen's club in spartanburg, pa. Ours are on every 3rd Sunday of the month.

This is hilarious! And so true. I think even snopes confirmed it. And it’s still on FB so you know it’s true, lol

Good, just ready to sit in a tree and clear my head. Yeah that buck is the one I was playing cat and mouse with last year that I bumped at 30 yards when I was setting up. I relocated him. How are you, any swamp donkies you are after yet?

That's a great deer! Hopefully you can put together a plan to get him this year. I did winter scouting, but other then that I have been lazy. Just going to go off my past scouting and relay on in season sightings.
