Even without a deer sighting, your hunts are some of the most entertaining to follow. Better entertainment than every private land farm hunt on the outdoor channel!

Here is the plan. It is going to be 80 degrees and Im going to hunt a place Ive never hunted. Im also wearing new, cheap, $15 lightweight pants from Walmart that still smell of 100 strains of Covid. People are saying, "rest up and get ready for the rut". Eat it. The only way to get a diamond from the crappy coal mines I hunt is pressure. Im gonna kill one this afternoon while being bitten alive by southern bred mosquitoes from hell.

A week from Friday is my last day on my current contract and HR advised me that I can take the remainder of my PTO at any time. My last day I cannot take the whole day off, but I have to turn in my laptop that morning, so effectively cannot work my last day. Guess who has next week off....

Tell the deer I'm coming. And hell is coming with me.

I plan to get in some hunting this weekend but don't know if it'll be in a tree with a bow. It's supposed to be down around 3°F in the mornings and only about 20°F for a high. That makes me want to do a bit of still hunting with the muzzleloader rather than sitting still.
That is heated vest type temps, except I don't have one.
Or I may just do a bit of still hunting at first light and then go crawl into the tree around 9 or so. Many times when it's really cold I see the deer start moving up into the morning a bit.

I will be heading out in about 3 hours. Ditching work and going! Not the wind I want to hunt in my normal spots. So going to a new bedding area I found last spring. Good run coming out of marsh and found a dead buck in a bed in there. So time to check it out and give it a hunt.

Im doing the same. Found that big well used buck bed last winter. Hunting just 150 yds from that bed on the other side of the swamp where I found an exit trail. Bringing the bug spray and face mask. Good luck Holt!

    And good luck to you!

Any way to get closer? From what I've been seeing is the deer don't move more then 80 yards. I've had to get within 60 yards of there beds to to get a shot. Might be a good day to try your sneaking skills with the wet ground.

I think I can push it 50 yds closer. After that I think I may be picked off. That being said I havent seen it since 9 months ago, so if the cover is better I can push it even further. Ill take your advice and push into the swamp and leave just a little cover....need to keep from getting sylined.

Rain stopped but now all grey again...checked cams 76 degrees.. So this was when I was grocery shopping due to non stop rain note time and date right on this. 18 yards from where I shot the doe and the broken racked buck is there about the same time...hhmmmm hope what ever broke that rack is still out there. See my stand upper middle frame?....Also got a surprise when preparing heart for son...heart shot her ...but wouldn't have thought from arrow she must have flopped on it for the exit. will be out when weather breaks in the next day or two ...Good luck guys

I turn right out of my neighborhood and I run into suburbia and traffic. I turn left and this is all I see for 40 miles to my hunting spot.
I try to turn left as much as possible.

Couldn't believe that last second move to the ground worked out the way it did. Talk about the right move! They are having an epic season.
