I got 2 hours out of the little guy, said he had fun, never saw anything, but he was getting bored and hungry. Apparently I didn’t bring enough snacks, oh well, he said he’d go again! I think I need to wait for turkey season though, at least he can hammer the box call and not have to be as quiet and still.

Usually sick of not seeing deer and tired of the weather.

To paraphrase a Mellencamp song, " i need some deer to thrill me and then go away...some deer that knows the meaning of hit the highway..."

Trying to come up with my game plan for tomorrow. Rain is supposed to stop by 8 AM. Do I go in later for a midday and afternoon hunt? Or do I go in and get wet wait for the rain to stop?

Holy hell you guys keep this thread hoppn!
    Good job LC.
Had an awesome time this evening. 3 kiddos came to hunt the youth season.
A 11 year old and 13 year old girls both killed nice does.
3rd boy had 2 fawns at 15 yards but was waiting for ma to show up.
Was super fun.. kids made meat!!
Here's where I sat with the 13 year old girl.
160 acres of WIDE open crp.
We sat in an old combine that's been abandoned for years.

    I love this thread !!

    Edited too add.
Its times like I had tonight that make me think back years ago when "someone,_anyone" took me hunting.
It instilled a powerful influence that has shaped my life.
There are still a few guys around that are old as hell that took me out as a snot nosed kids but will go outta my way to visit them.

Guys I looked up to and thought they were "superman" 40 years ago are feeble old men now but still get a spark in there eye while chatting.
May we all reflect from time to time and think about stuff like that.
    Somebody got us "sparked".
May sound kinda sappy but watching these kids shoot deer tonite helps heal the "greed" I've had over my younger year.

I'd do mid day just based on how you hunt and how far you go. Wet and miserable isn't fun in general but wet and miserable while hunting that far in has to suck the most. Just me tho. I almost didn't even chime in. Ha!

Wish my wife would eat deer more often. I would bag more deer in that case. Kids and I are the only ones that eat it.
