Well that was fun, reading 7/8 pages of LFTS in the rain and trying to pay attention to the woods.

    43 degrees
    winds SSW 10
And rain. It was suppose to rain after 7am. It has slowed now
    Back at it.
    Just horns today

Been trying to update. There’s an amorous fork horn chasing does all around me.

Given the chance I’ll shoot a doe out from in front of him.

Crap. I was typing that and he chased one 15 yards in front of me.

At least this sit is entertaining.

Just got winded by a big doe at the field edge 30 yards away. I didn’t even know she was there and I didn’t realize what little wind there was had shifted.

Actually I can barely see the field edge because the brush is so thick between here and there.

I need to move this stand to a spot where I can cover the woods and have a shot at the field.

I need to move this stand about 80 yards to the west. I’m thinking that about 30 minutes from now would be the best time.

After I get it moved and set up I’m going to get out of here, run back to my brother’s house, grab a bite to eat, get my other stand and get over to the T woods by noon.

Well...all I've seen is a bunch of rowdy squirrels. Bummer. Gonna stay here a while regardless.

How'd I get so far behind!?...Congrats to those with deer on the ground. High winds and rain all night and this a.m. Now calm cloudy and much cooler. Tonight we are going down to frost temps will be out this afternoon. Then turkey opens Sat morning.
This brings up another contentous issue I had on another site. See you are allowed to use a crossbow to hunt turkey spring AND fall. No restrictions. So I contacted the DEC and asked the legality of carrying both my crossbow and my compound to hunt both deer and turkey. Well it took a week for a response because they weren't sure. They came back that if the weapons are legal for the game in season then it is legal to hunt for two different species if using the proper weapon. I showed a pic that had both my weapons in blind and they went crazy calling me an illegal hunter.
I will sling my crossbow and carring my compound Saturday morning. My bolts will have a G5 and my arrows will have the new single blade broadheads. So if I get a kill on either species there will be a distinct difference in wound channels. I don't like shooting guns in my woods when pre ruts just heating up. I don't want to miss a chance at a buck while turkey hunting. I want a better chance on a turkey with the cross bow, they have a much smaller kill area as far as the chance of them getting away after a shot . Deer bleed more and can't take flight on a marginal hit that could still kill. Alway check before hunting because it took a week of checking for the guys making the rules to figure out their own rules before answering me.

Cool I'll check it out! I like the visual of the moon positioning compared to huntstand just saying it.
