So here's how it went down. I had seen 4 does come by me in a hurry about half an hour earlier. Then I see what I think is the same group coming towards me. I picked out the largest of the bunch and let it fly. I thought I had ranged that spot at about 35yds. Turns out it was about 25. I heard it hit and she jumped sky high and bounded off about 20yds. She just stood there looking around and I thought she was going to drop right there. But she just sort of walked off with the rest of the group. I gave it about 30 minutes and got down. I saw massive amounts of blood right away. I thought she probably wouldn't go very far. But as I followed the blood trail it got to be less and less. I decided to give it a bit more time. I waited a couple of hours and started tracking again. She went off the property and into a bean field. It looked as if she was headed right down the property line so I started walking that. I got about 100yds and she jumped up out of her bed and continued down the edge of the field. I decided to go into town and get lunch. I came back after about an hour and figured she'd head for an opening in the fence that I knew was there. I headed to that and when I got just about there, a bunch of buzzards flew up. I didn't go another 30yds and I found her. I hated the buzzards got to her but at least I did get her. Sorry about the long post. It's been an exhausting day so far.

Back in the tree finally, bunch of fresh sign since I’ve been here. Talked to farmer when he pulled up. Asked if he was harvesting today and said maybe. He said there’s a big one in there. I said I know I’ve got him on camera. He said yeah he’s got double drop tines. Lol I said what that’s not the one I have on cam. He said yeah he likes to stay on the east side. That’s where I’ve been hunting the past 2 sits. Staying optimistic

Aahh the air smells so fresh and earthy. Forgot my seat cushion. Hhmmm did a few mile bike ride on stationary this morning. Ya perhaps I should have gone recumbent. .lol

Buzzards were on it three hours after the shot? Time to brush up on your skeet shooting skills.

Congratulations on the doe! Sorry the buzzards found her before you did, but they didn't do that much damage did they?
