I've watched doe box many times over the years. It amazes me how long and how much ground they can tally up on 2 legs slapping the snot out of each other.

Well evening started out somewhat slow but at last night I had this guy come walking up from bottom of hill to corner of field that I was sitting at. When he popped out in to field At 40 yards I was at full draw but he turned and walked away instead of out where I had a shot. Soooo disappointed. Exact same path my buck last year came out. What’s more frustrating is I had made a new set at the other side of field point I’m on and wouldn’t you know he came out directly under it. exciting but disappointing as he was walking up the hill towards me I already pictured him in the wall.

If it was easy it wouldn't be fun. Sometimes you're the cat, sometimes you're the mouse, most times though, you're the dog looking on wondering what the hell is happening.

The time has come. I have some of my hunting clothing in the wash. I shot my muzzleloader and it's dead on at 100 yards. I washed my truck for the first time in almost a year. I ran the Ozonics in my truck for a half hour. My bowstring is waxed and the quiver is full of arrows with freshly sharpened Slick Tricks.

Tomorrow morning I'll load up to head for Kentucky. I got word from my brother that the corn on the property I plan to focus on has been cut/picked/shelled/whatever you call it based on where you're from. That should have a somewhat restrictive effect on deer movement and make them move through the wood patches a little more.

I'll be bow hunting tomorrow afternoon through Friday evening. A two day muzzleloader season opens in Kentucky Saturday morning. I will be climbing up Saturday morning with both my bow and my TC Encore. I even called Kentucky DNR to make sure it was legal. It is legal. If deer come within bow range I'll use the bow. If they don't I'll use the muzzleloader. I might even get one with the bow and then swap weapons and get another with the muzzleloader as they're stomping around wondering what just happened.

This is all going to coincide with the cold front moving through and the new moon, the peak of which is Friday.

My prediction is that multiple hoofed furry critters are going to die between tomorrow and Monday morning somewhere in my immediate vicinity.

I'll be taking my laptop along because this weekend the Official Scorecard Thread is going to be busy. Well, that is if the rest of you are planning on actually hunting. :tu:

Lost my sense of taste and smell today... Didn’t lose my sense to kill.

Still quite sick so taking tomorrow off again while it’s windy. I will be out Thursday through the foreseeable future as it is supposed to cool down considerably.

The October lull is a myth and it’s time to spill blood.

We are supposed to be killing deer here, not digging holes.

Good luck everyone! We had two Doe in front of us for about 30sec yesterday afternoon, but by the time Caleb got on them with the crossbow they had turned and were walking straight away. The other two didn't see anything. Everyone slept in today. Back out for early afternoon.

I'm in the stand waiting on daylight. Should be about 45 minutes. No wind and 40 degrees. Sounds like a killin morning!
