I got pics of one of the bucks. Dont know if it is the big one I saw and couldnt get pics of or if this buck is the same as the "smaller" buck. What do you think?...same buck as the one in the river? I dont think it is...I overestimated the bigger buck but he is still a big boy.

Yeah I cant tell. If it is the same one in the river then the bigger one is still out there. But for some reason that buck in the river had some junk you just cant see from the pic. And I remember the bigger one being a lot wider and more symmetrical, like the one I captured in the trail cam.

It may be. I remember the bigger one having a much bigger body than the one I see in the trail cam pics. I need to put the cam back out there for a couple weeks.

Great looking 4 point. (Us Westerners get excited when you call a buck an 8 point...that would be a 16 point to us.)
He's a shooter where I hunt. Would love to see a pic of the "bigger one"! Sounds like you didn't leave the camera?

No, I am an idiot. Haha. But I fish out there so I will probably put it back out there in a week or so. Maybe I can pick them both up together on the cam. I am actually surprised they werent moving together as they were bedded together. That buck in the trail cam is big, but he isn't make your heart stop big...and that is what I felt when I saw the bigger buck cross the river. I may have overestimated..and that is ok. This stuff is fun!

He is still around.... Shedding time probably has them separated right now.

I'd be pleased with the 4 point, a bigger one possibly showing is just icing.
My concern would be if they move, this area could be their summer pattern.

From my experience river bucks travel a lot..

Find the does living along the river and camp out on their butt's.. He will be coming back by...

Yeah I am thinking so too. I saw that first buck and I was like holy crap! Then 2 minutes later I saw the second bigger buck and I was like, holy S! Second buck had a much bigger body and I felt he was "30 inches" bigger. Lots to ponder.

There are some big time oak flats within 200 yards of the trail cam pics...and the red and white oaks are loaded. I might as well ask for permission and if I am denied, then I can just move on mentally. lol

2 points from some study I remember.

Older bucks tend to stay more stationary... Maybe knowing where safety is (wind, topo, experience)

All bucks move/travel more come the rut.

Where those bucks are located is literally the safest place they could be in that area. The very tail end of a 1.25 mile long public land area with no hunting, and right between two large private tracts of land. Even if they strayed a half mile from their beds, more than likely no one would see them unless they knew they were there and set up.
