Well not a great update. This would have been doe number 2 for me. My 5 year old and me went and sat in a double ladder stand. Within an hour we had 2 doe come in to 30 yards. I shoot one and looked like I smoked her. Shot looked right at her shoulder blades and blew through. I get arrow to find meat on the arrow. Blood trail only went for about 40 yards. All red blood. No guts and no bubbles. Trail went dry so me and the kiddo did a small grid search in the area for about 45 mins. No luck. Guess I will have to cough it up as a meat shot. That would be a first for me as well. She looked like a done deer on impact.

That sucks, but if you feel the shot was still good maybe a solo trip out for another go might help. I could only imagine the excitement and anticipation with your little one, maybe something got overlooked and a less hyped up search might yield something more?

I'm trying to recall if he has named a buck steaks previously and I missed it or what not.

How'd the hunt with your daughter go? No offense taken if it is a moment you're keeping for yourself.

Ok ok so i got in at 4. Climbed up the damn to a thorny locus tree only one close to big enough. Was more an observation, or a doe it a clean shot. So look over my should and small doe. Watch her and think how tender. But another deer coming in and caught glimpse of horns. So said no to doe. That was the spike. Fyi this was after the shirtless man. 5 mins after spike disappeared this guy comes walking in. Stop at 15 yards. I spun around in saddle and he is 5 yards under me. Arrow passed threw but left fleching in him. Getting ready to head in. Almost positive i heard him crash.
