One less coyote in the world. Young one made me pause bc I actually thought it was a fox. Nope. Dead yote.

Well that was the best opening day I’ve ever had, except for the ending.... got climbed up for the evening right around 3pm, I had doe on camera at this stand pretty much every evening between 4 and 8, got all situated an at 4 pm I see 3 does working down the hill below me, I get myself settled, draw and stop the doe in my only opening, I ranged the opening to be 25 so I held my 20 pin just a little high, pulled through on the shot and whack.... she ran off angled towards the road with my nockturnal hanging out of her, meanwhile the other two she was with bolted the opposite direction then ran towards the road as a car was coming, the smallest one almost got hit, the car slowed down, passed the deer, I heard a crack where my doe went but by the road, then the car slowed down again... thought for sure that crack was her going down, I got down ended up finding the point of impact and absolutely nothing besides two scuffs where she turned around. There were basically 3 paths she could have taken, walked each of them out about 100-150 yards to where they puttered out or crossed the road, no blood, no hair, no over turned leaves or scuffing, absolutely nothing.... she had to have taken the past of least resistance which would have had her cross right over the road where the car had slowed down. Walked around until it got dark then drove by a few times trying to see if I could find my nockturnal, couldn’t see it anywhere, going to try grid searching the spots I walked through tomorrow morning. Getting permission on the other side of the road is unfortunately a no go, been trying to get ahold of that guy for years to get permission to hunt over there and have never been able to track anything down, he lives in Maine... ****ty end to a great day

Awesome, awesome evening. Something spooked the does off the field, well it was the big 10 I have pics of, then 2 more came out and they all sparred and played around. Of course, they were across the other end Of the field, but! There is a decent spot where I get pictures and they hung out. I’m going to try and get out here tomorrow evening and hopefully they come out again.
    Tally for the night:
    4 doe
    1 fawn
    4 bucks
    4 ducks
    1 beaver

I didn’t hunt this evening and I won’t be hunting in the morning.

I was sitting here scrolling through the LFTS thread and my dogs went nuts a while ago.

I figured it was deer so I grabbed my binoculars and sneaked our the back door. There was an 8 point that I would shoot about 35 yards away on the other side of the fence totally ignoring the dogs. I could barely tell what he was.

I sneaked back in, grabbed my thermal imager and since it doesn’t take pics I removed the rubber eye boot and grabbed my iPhone.

Best pic I could manage under those circumstances. He was looking right at me when I finally pulled this off.

The back half of him was behind thick leaves.
