You know reading these, it sounds like an early pre rut...we never see rubs early here and they are all over. I know of at least 2 doe that went into heat already. One on video in front of cam the other, I watched get bred. Makes me wonder about the rut. Perhaps ,due to weather, food and large # of buck, it could be a long drawn out event and not a specific November frenzy? Your thoughts?

I think the best of the rut will be the last week of october. Nature is about 2 weeks ahead of schedule here.

Got a deer to my left, about 80 yards away. Can’t make out what it is yet.

I decided to hit the ground this evening. I'm on a well used trail between bedding and an acorn flat with a 30 yard shot in about any direction. We've got a weird SE wind that is pretty good for this spot. Let's see what happens.

Warmed up quite a bit. There’s rain moving in tonight so like the weatherman says
“There’s a 50% chance of deer moving in front of me tonight.”

Somebody will definitely shoot something tonight!

Back out for the evening, most likely last hunt I’ll get for 2 weeks. I was going to move trees but there is too much foliage still up, would of had 1 shooting lane. Back in my creek tree, not sure what to think of this spot, too warm to trek into the woods and sweat looking around. Let’s hope they move this evening.

It switched 180 degrees on me multiple times yesterday. Very frustrating.

Got something moving through the creek about 150 yards below me. Can’t see there but lots of splashing. Hopefully headed this way.

Finally in a tree. Stumbled around in a new spot with some good sign. Not a lot of good trees and I am not as high as I would like but should have some decent cover. Pretty thick so shots will likely be 20 and under where I like them. First sit of the year with a bow! Good luck all who are out!
