I can't believe the little bucks are already fired up and starting to push does. Definitely felt like a rut sit.

Yeah, well,..... they didn't show up so there's that.

Not a thing moved through those woods. Last light was at 7:16 but by 7:00 it was so dark in the woods under that thick canopy that I wouldn't have been able to see what I was shooting at so I got down and sneaked out of the woods. Besides, at that point nothing is going to be coming into the wood patches. They're going to be leaving them.

I eased around the corner to cut through the gap between wood patches and there was a big single deer feeding.

I froze until he walked around the far corner and then sneaked on out.

It figures. I hate hunting a full moon.

It's always great to see some bucks. But I need to find something a little more mature. I have yet to see a buck 3 years old or older. I guess I just got to kept moving.

The little buck was really wild looking. He had 12" spikes coming start off his head with only a 4" spread. Then come out the front of the spikes were these 6" bladed daggers. Kind of reminded me of a sika deer.

We'll see. I had planned on an all day sit but that isn't gonna happen. I will try to sit until noon or so, but no longer.

    Coffee pot is set.
    Arrows are flying true.
    Clothes are ready.
    Alarm is set.
Weather supposed to be very rainy.

...but there is a very big buck that needs me to kill him tomorrow.
    Good luck, October 1 Crew.

You have a target buck you are going in for or just a generalization of the season opener?

I am so unprepared for Friday morning.

Cleaned clutter/garbage out of the truck tonight, 70% was left over from last season.

Haven't shot my bow since shooting my buck last year.

Haven't washed a single layer of clothing yet.

Going to have one of the worst winds possible.

Garage is jam packed with clutter and most processors are not accepting deer this year, freezers are full as well.

I think I am ready as ever, let the games begin....

As of this afternoon, a target buck. Jumped a little one whilst scouting and he in turn jumped the big one. He's big mature deer. Don't want to guess score but he's at least a 4 year old deer with a ton of mass and inches...not many points though. I'm worried he's a big 6 b/c that county just adopted APR so he's gotta have at least 4 on one side. Thing is I jumped them on the other side of the county line, then they crossed back onto the unrestricted side. Literally.

...a truly big 6 is my dream wall hanger.

I'm heading out tomorrow. Got a 6 hour drive with a detour to pick up an ATV from another farm. Not sure if I will be able to hunt in the PM or not, but Friday is looking awesome! 2 1/2 days, property all to myself and highs in the low 60's. I already know where I'm sitting each morning and evening, if the wind forecast stays true.
Ladder stands, climber and ground hunts are all in my plans. Can't wait, Let's go boys!

If Big Sex survived last season, he should be a bruiser. I've had encounters with him the past 2 years, I think he would be at least a 4, maybe even a 5 yr old this year. And if that other freak I have pictures of is still around, Fuggetaboutit!
